AMD Software Adrenalin 23.5.1 WHQL Released

AMD released the latest version of its Adrenalin graphics drivers. Support for the recently launched Radeon RX 7600 doesn't yet feature in its change-log, although it introduces optimization for "The Lord of the Rings: Gollum," with up to 16% increase in frame-rates seen at 4K compared to the previous 23.4.3 drivers on the RX 7900 series graphics cards; and up to 12% increase seen at the same resolution, on older RX 6000 series GPUs.

Among the handful issues fixed with this release are an intermittent crash noticed during video playback in DaVinci Resolve Studio. A display corruption may occur when switching between video playback and gameplay on cards such as the RX 6700 XT, which has been fixed. Higher than expected memory usage during shader compilation during the first launch of "The Last of Us: Part 1" has been fixed. Lastly, an intermittent crash with "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II" on older AMD Radeon GPUs, such as the RX 580, has been fixed.

the high idle power usage not being fixed after all this time I find a bit concerning.

I am considering getting a 4070 ti to go with 5800x3d. haven't quite decided yet. i just don't understand why the 7900 xt and xtx still have higher idle usage when consumers made it clear this was the number 1 thing they wanted fixed.

Looks like this doesn't have HAGS from the beta driver yet

chipset drivers as opposed to gpu drivers?
Because I'm on AM5, new chipset drivers were released only couple days ago, so I definitely update them to avoid those SoC issues.

My idle is down to 5W now from 20W on the previous driver. Also it does no longer report "0 MHz" memory/gpu clock at idle anymore, thankfully.

AMD really need to fix those known issues. It's hurting.

Super disappointed to find out they disabled wattman/tuning for mobile GPUs in their latest drivers.

Installed alongside the new AM5 chipset driver, nothing to report. No issues on install or reboot, everything works as normal.

Gotta say, i've been pretty happy with the AMD driver experience with this build. It's pretty rare I run into issues.

What do people tend to do with GPU/Chipset drivers now, just install over the exisiting, no need to mess around using DDU etc? I currently have 23.4.3 GPU drivers installed, not sure on chipset ones though I have a clean install of Windows 11 over the last 2 weeks so likely already have the latest installed or the previous ones, I am going to install both these 23.5.1 drivers and chipset

I have also installed it and no problem, it is seen that AMD is waking up and sees that an improvement in the CPU and GPU driver means a lot.
A great job by AMD. I've been with them for about 4 hours and everything is stable in all the games I'm playing. I even see an increase in frames between 4-10 frames, more practically imperceptible.

hahahaha I almost have the same scores.
This new controller is wonderful and in some games it has increased my FPS between 4-10 practically negligible but Very good

I install chipset drivers over top.

For GPU drivers clean instill every few months not every driver.

I don't use ddu unless there's s problem. I had to use it 2-3 years ago due to black screen problem. Since then, everything has been fine. Same thing with chipset driver. I install it only if the new driver is necessary.

AMD should mark the issue as fixed then? Now I am just confused...

Guess it depends on the card and/or situation?

Yeah. It did have high power consumption at 165Hz 1440p for some reason tho. That's fine now for me.

I've got a 6700 xt and 1080p 165hz monitor I had to use September drivers for months before it was fixed for me, thankfully that was 2 or 3 releases ago so it seems to depend on the configuration of the user and they're still rolling out fixes for it with monthly drivers I would assume

I should have...this is the first time I've ever had issues with chipset drivers. Games were in constant stutter and my case fans ran at higher RPMs that I couldn't control. It was weird.

Wait. Didn't the problem as described change from
"high idle with multiple displays"
to
"high idle with [one] display with high resolution and refresh rate"
?

to be honest I am not sure, but I plan to have a setup with two monitors eventually anyway.

my main issue is with the vram downclocking in older games like starcraft 2, I read on other forums how a 6800 xt out performs a 7900 xt in world of warcraft for similar reasons.

next gen is just a major fucking headache, so I am giving up. i would have never sold my 6800 xt had I known about this vram downclocking issue for older games. cause every time i come close to buying that 4070 ti i look at that price tag, vram size, and performance for what I am paying for... and it just doesn't seem right.

so fuck it all.
