ASUS Introduces Super Ultra Wide ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD Gaming Monitor at Computex 2023

The ROG OLED gaming monitor lineup already contains a compelling set of options. The large-and-in-charge ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ and ROG Swift OLED PG48UQ deliver exceptional display characteristics across breathtakingly large panels. The fast, bright, and versatile ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM offers gaming excellence in the popular 27-inch size. Now, we're ready to bring all the advantages of OLED tech to gamers who crave the immersion of an ultra-wide display. Introducing the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD. Equipped with Smart KVM, a premium ROG cooling solution, and a bright, vibrant QD-OLED panel, this monitor is ready to take center stage for your gaming rig.

Ultra-wide and ultra-versatile
Considering that it's a 49-inch display, it might be better to call the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD a super-ultra-wide rather than just an ultra-wide. With its 5120x1440 resolution, it gives you all the desktop real estate provided by two separate 16:9 1440p displays. Its 1800R curvature wraps the display around the periphery of your vision, and helps ensure that colors are clear and bright, even at the extreme sides of the display.
The PG49WCD's super-ultra-wide form factor makes it a compelling choice for certain genres, like racing sims. But thanks to its Smart KVM, you can put this monitor's wide expanse of pixels to work in a surprising number of ways. This innovative feature lets you control two PCs with one keyboard and mouse, with both screens split across the wide display. When you move your mouse between one side of the screen and the other, it'll automatically switch control between the two devices, all without the need for specialized software or additional hardware. You can even copy a file from one device and paste it to the other - and it's ultra-fast, thanks to USB 3.2 connectivity.

To make it easy for you to take advantage of Smart KVM, the PG49WCD offers a selection of DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 ports, and it offers high-bandwidth USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports so that you connect your peripherals and storage devices. Additionally, you'll find a full-function USB Type-C port with 90 W power delivery so that you can charge up a connected device even while connecting it to the display.

ROG cooling expertise meets QD-OLED
To help ensure a long product lifespan, to minimize the risk of burn-in, and to allow the ROG Swift PG49WCD to deliver dazzling highlights, we outfitted this monitor with a substantial cooling solution. In any OLED monitor, two components are primarily responsible for generating heat. The first is the mainboard which processes all display signals. A large and efficient custom heatsink keeps this board cool without the need for a noisy, distracting fan.

Second, the OLED panel itself generates heat. To dissipate it silently and effectively, we install a graphene film behind the entire panel. The thinnest yet strongest nanomaterial in the world, graphene has a thermal conductivity coefficient of up to 5,300 W/mk - a figure more than a hundred times greater than silver, copper, gold, or aluminium can offer. All told, the PG49WCD's cooling solution allows it to reach a peak brightness of 1000 nits (across a 3% of the screen's surface area with HDR on). Additionally, it reduces the risk of image retention.

The ROG-exclusive Uniform Brightness setting makes sure that you have a seamless desktop experience. If you connect your PC to a standard OLED TV or monitor and open a window with a white background, it'll noticeably and annoyingly change brightness as you resize it due to the display's automatic brightness limiter. Our Uniform Brightness setting within the OSD menu decreases peak brightness to keep levels consistent for better viewing, even when changing the size of bright white windows. It also makes marathon gaming sessions much more comfortable on the eyes.

Loaded with luxuries
Gamers everywhere are taking advantage of the premium characteristics of OLED displays. We outfit the PG49WCD with a QD-OLED panel primed to deliver inky blacks, vivid colors, and dazzling, detailed highlights. It offers true 10-bit color, and it covers 99% of the cinema-grade DCI-P3 color gamut for lifelike, vibrant colors. Together, these characteristics target to meet the requirements of a VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification.

Key gaming specs help the PG49WCD provide a competitive edge in any game. Its 144 Hz refresh rate serves up fluid, fast animation, while its strikingly low 0.03 ms response time minimizes blur for supreme clarity in fast-paced action. AMD FreeSync Premium Pro tech ensures tear-free, low latency gameplay.

The ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD's easy-to-access joystick lets you quickly adjust display settings. Depending on your desk setup, though, it might be even easier to make adjustments with your trusty mouse and keyboard. That's why we offer the ASUS DisplayWidget Center app. This lightweight app lets you change your GameVisual mode, add a crosshair or FPS counter, and much more, all through an intuitive interface. The DisplayWidget Center app also lets you quickly access options that help you maintain the health of your OLED display.

The ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD rounds out our OLED gaming monitor selection with a super-ultra-wide display that's ready for center stage. To learn more about the pricing and availability of the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD in your region, please contact your local ROG representative.

You mean, YOUR world.
In MY world, we are waiting for more 34 or 37 inchers OLEDs, with curved 21:9 aspect ratio and high refresh rates.

I love the idea of integrated Smart KVM; it would solve the need for a switch box I still use when backing up old memories from an older PC into the current one and its sync'd backup.

I do wish it came in 4k by now though, even if I do prefer 1440 still for an even mix of size and responsiveness.

Which reminds me, has there been any updates on whether or not Samsung has released their Odyssey Neo G9 or Odyssey G9 from CES 2023 yet?

Samsung announced a 55" 2x4k 120 Hz screen for this year, if I remember correctly. I could be wrong but I would have it .

In my world everyone wants super-ultrawides that are taller and OLED at the same time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

no GPUs as far as I can remember have the ability to drive 32:9 1440p monitors higher than 144Hz without the need of DSC, regardless of using the latest version of HDMI or DP. IMHO, 144Hz on 32:9 1440p is more than enough.

Then they should use DSC. My 4090 easily pushes my 32:9 1440p monitor beyond 144fps. Even AAA games can go beyond 200fps.

we DEFINITELY need more ultrawide monitors, NOT those stupid-ass 16:9 or 16:10 "boxes". Sure those are easier to crank up the refresh rate but it beats the purpose if your field of view is narrow, ruining the immersion and overall experience.
