Porsche Design and AGON by AOC, one of the world's leading gaming monitor1 and IT accessories brands, announce their latest collaboration: the gaming monitor Porsche Design AOC AGON PRO PD34. This new 34" (86.36 cm) curved QD-OLED gaming monitor combines the conceptual excellence of Porsche Design with AGON by AOC's expertise in cutting-edge display technology. The ultra-wide PD34 with its 1800R curvature is engineered to meet the exacting standards of both professional users and enthusiast gamers, offering a blend of performance, precision, and style that reflects the heritage of both brands. Porsche Design conceptualised the design of the PD34 by referencing the radiator grille of a Porsche 911. Design wise i just don't see a very big difference to other Agon monitors if the price is much higher.
I think AOC/Porsche are trying to do the "How do you do fellow
kidsboomers" joke as part of their marketing scheme.If I showed my daughter this monitor and the images she'd tell me I'm stupid for saying that it's a Porsche Design (other than having their logo on it). She knows more about high profile cars than most people that drive them (it's amazing how much info she has in her head about these cars) and dazzles these people with her knowledge when they try to toss out some obscure fact that she already knows and then goes on to tell them things about the car and/or company they didn't know.
If you have to tell people what about the design is related to such a company then the design is a failure.Where? I just don't see it. Maybe I'm just simple minded in this aspect, but there is nothing Porsche inspired on this monitor. I'm not sure who I feel worse for, Porsche Design (company is owned by Porsche) for not being able to make anything look like it ties to Porsche on their designs or Agon for continuing to work with them.
Well, whatever is actually happening here these things must be selling well enough to keep folks wanting more....look at all the other Porsche "themed" items that have come across the TPU news over the past few years for PC related stuff:

It’s a stretch, admittedly, but this is the only thing I can remotely guess as to what they mean.
Personally though I'd like to see even a 3840 x 1680 say in the 34" UWA format. This still has lower dpi than a 32" 4K at, 123dpi, but is still an improvement over the 109dpi of the 3440 x 1440 and provides a healthy real estate upgrade that wouldn't really require a change to scaling from 100%.
My ideal monitor would be 38" version of the Dell with 2304 zone miniled, HDR1400 120Hz, dp2.1, 100W+ PD and 146dpi.
