The guys at VR-Zone spent 10 hours last Saturday pitting the new Asus Xonar against a series of other sound cards such as Auzentech X-Meridien, Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 XT, Tokyo Style Envy24 HT 7.1, Creative X-Fi Elite Pro and Creative Audigy 4. The speakers used during the test were M-Audio Studiophile BX-5 Studio Monitoring speakers and Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 Multimedia speakers. Click here to read the full story.

i've only owned creative sound cards dating back to SB64PCI - or whatever it was called. this isn't because i love creative products and their drivers :ohwell: but i can't find many of these other sound cards at local computer stores. for choices, it's usually the creative cards vs mystery-brand soundcards.

i hope asus decides to widely distribute these cards. do you have a link of the price? i really don't want my next sound card to be another creative.

Besides creative Ive used the turtle beach sound cards back in the day. They werent bad really, had great driver support and were decent for games. But then, I bought the creative sound blaster series and never looked back. This Asus Xonar looks pretty hot and like it would spar well with creative. If they merge the Xfi with the Auzentech deal and have great driver support, you will start seeing them in alot of computers.

BTW, any idea when this goes on sale?
