Diamond xDNA Allows CrossFire on Any Chipset With Any Cards

Diamond Multimedia has made a big impact on the graphics card market with their lineup of Radeon video cards a while back and it was the first to announce the launch of Radeon HD2900XT 1GB just recently. Diamond now has plans on a new platform called xDNA. xDNA enables users to run a CrossFire setup on any chipset, and that includes NVIDIA chipsets. Users can pick almost any motherboard with any socket, fit it with two Diamond Radeon cards and run CrossFire on it using Diamond's xDNA technology.

I wonder how performance will be on xDNA compared to a native CrossFire chipset like X38 or something.

Really, I dont see why multi-gpu tech should require a specialized chipset. The tech is built into the PCI-E specification, its just the vendors being greedy that requires special chipsets.

hmmm doesn't sapphire something like that on their dual x1950pro? its a single card with 2 x1950pro chips on it running x-fire

I'm sure it's all software driven and as shown in the past = less performance.
Don't get too excited or Nvidia will come to castrate you.

How can they do this without the go ahead from NV/AMD and all the chipset manufactures. This would require modding of chipset and graphics driver which are copy written. Seems odd there the only ones that are allowed to do this. I would think a company that used both brands of GPUs would get the green light first. Maybe there the first to come out with it and NV and AMD have open there hearts to the idea of sharing:slap: or it could be BS?
