AMD RS780 is 261% Faster Than AMD 690G in 3DMark06

Today, AMD announced the AMD RS780 IGP chipset in China, and first benchmark results are already starting to spread around the web. Initial tests of 3Dmark05, 3Dmark06 and F.E.A.R. under Windows VISTA Ultimate using AMD Athlon X2 5000+, 2GB PC2-6400 Corsair memory and the integrated graphics on a 690G board and RS780 board show some spectacular differences:

3DMARK05 @690G=1105, @RS780=2495
Vista Experience Index @690G=3.1, @RS780=3.5
FEAR DEMO @690=15FPS, @RS780=29FPS
3DMARK 06 @690G : Score=321, SM2:147, HDR/SM3=0, CPU score = 1860
3DMARK 06 @RS780: Score=1162, SM2:380, HDR/SM3=441, CPU score 1869

In terms of 3D graphics performance, AMD RS780 is 2x faster than AMD 690G. In 3Dmark06, the difference is shocking, 1162 vs 321. That is 3.6x difference.

sounds amazing, what kind of power consumption are we looking at?

Nice would be if this worked with crossfire to!
3850+IGP
or
2x3870+IGP :) AA for free or something like that!

Anyway good concept!
By a motherboard whit this!
And later a GPU! And the IGP power don't loss anymore!
Just Adding to it!

That thing'll prob laugh at Q3 and touch Q4 I reckon. Even my onboard GeForce4 on an EP-8RGMi was just able to play Q4 ffs :rockout:

I've got the RS600 on the Abit F-I90HD and it will score 1350 in 3Dmark05, which allows for playing HL2 : D at a reasonable frame rate on a lowered resolution. Not something you'd want as your main gaming PC but OK as a LAN party spare, for just in case.

You could see killer rigs with this IGP and Hybrid Crossfire technology in the future. In the mean time the 3D solitair players are having a field day with this bad boy :P

if they have the power usage sorted that could make a very competitive laptop vga chipset alternative to the intel stuff.

Not bad. In fact, I'm impressed. 2495 in 05 is not bad for an IGP. Can't wait for some additional video encoding/decoding benchies since I seriously doubt anyone will buy these to play Crysis on em.

Note: Ugh, anyone notice how 3DMark 06 has slowly become a benchmark for everything nowadays, the ONLY benchmark. I've seen half a dozen reviews in the last 3-4 months where the ONLY benchmark was 3DMark 06. Only it. Geez, people are using it benchmark everything from RAID performance to SPU latency. I don't know if it's just lazy reviewing or ignorance.

wait lol like a 7300gs just saw some 06 runs of the 7600 and its way better

comparing that IGP to my old ATI Xpress 200 chipset on my Intel board is nuts! I only scored 600 or so in 3m06 with just that IGP

this is the sort of thing that when crossfired it can bost a pretty low range graphics card, or it can handle some of the graphics processing away from the cpu

if they are going to bother using IGP then they may as well crossfire it to get a higher AA for example i mean its not like it does anything usually

anyway it isnt a replacement or a stand in for a second video card or a decent card its just to boost performance on low/mid range i guess

this could be good for laptops and shit like that it could work with the gpu on a laptop to get a boost its just more bang for the buck i guess

But what will NVidia throw out. We still have to see what bahemeth could and will be released. It seemed AMD and ATi are is a struggle still to compete for the top segment. Which is what make support wars.

If Im not mistaken, this Chipset/IGP is supposed to be part of the Hybrid Crossfire Technology. That would be something special if it were.

hmmm.....? just need some benches of this chipset run with a AMD/Intel quad core CPU to see how much quicker it really is

upcoming Hybrid CrossfireX will allow you to CFX your video card with the IGP.

that pretty good for igp, could be good for the casual gamer that don;t spend alot of money on videocards.

snuif09it kills my 7300gt:cry::cry:
while the 7300GT is weak, its pretty awesome that an onboard solution kills a dedicated card.

This is good news from ATI.
