Eidos Releases New Tomb Raider Underworld Xbox 360 Screenshots

Eidos has released the first batch of screenshots for Tomb Raider: Underworld. The game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics for six major platforms including Sony Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. The latest installment takes Lara Croft to Southern Mexico on a mission to unravel the mystery surrounding the five missing days of the Mayan calendar, an apocalyptic time when the portals between the mortal realm and the Underworld dissolve, allowing ill-intending deities to causing disaster and mayhem. The full game is expected to release in December 2008. All 10 ultra high resolution (5120x2880) screenshots are here.

Curious. In the first picture. Is that post processing blur effect or in game AA or what.
Look at the change in focus around her head. You can even see where the blur isn't quite right and blurs some of her hair.

Of course, I could care less about this game really. Just thought that was interesting.

Stick a fork in her. She's done.

You know, I'm sure they had some meetings where this idea was presented and it sounded a lot cooler than it does here, because here it just sounds dumb.

Oh noes! We're looking for missing days on a calendar! Next week, Laura Croft is sent to find out just how old are people if they're born on February 29th! Stay tuned!

I think they "hand" blurred it in photoshop. Notice the spaces in-between the hair aren't blurred.

Looks like they manually added the depth of field effect with photoshop. Whoever did it was too lazy to touch up the selection of her body other than using the magnetic lasso.

Tomb Raider is done, in it's place comes a bigger better game: Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. If you haven't played Uncharted Drakes Fortune, you're missing out on graphics that give Crysis a run for its money, a story that's second to none, and awesome action and adventure.

Out with the old, in with the new. Eidos is a dieing studio that's trying to rely on a dead franchise that obviously Sony cares nothing about anymore.

I'd stick something in her, but it won't be a fork.

Dirty jokes ftw.

Also I'm sure I could think of a joke referring to "spooning."

She's hot!!!
And by the way the missing days on the mayan Calendar is a great theme for a Tomb Raider game. There might be some evil secrets under those missing days, information that human kind would not handle.

I think the original games were verry good games, much better than most modern day games that are shallow. Honestly, how many games in a year are worth mentionning?

Then again, it's all relative to the person playing. Personnally, I will probably purchase this game.

I remember trying to run the original on my 486, when I still wondered what the big deal was about this new "pentium"....then after the game loaded, it took an actual five minutes for the first door to open!
