Art. Lebedev Studio Optimus Popularis Keyboard Gets First 3D Prototype View

Just ten days after the first design sketches of the new Art. Lebedev Studio keyboard appeared online, a more good looking 3D prototype is now available for your viewing pleasure. Set to abandon the OLED keys used in Optimus Maximus, Optimus Popularis is little short on details. For now the keyboard is in very early stage of development. We only know that it will be compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows systems, and is likely to feature a sub-$1000 price.

For me it seems that only F-keys, numbers and letters are OLED, that's why it's cheaper than Maximus that has all buttons OLEDs. That would still fit any keyboard mapping and seems to have some extra keys on top.

contextual keys which have OLED displays in them for instant-software changes.
on the Maximus version, all the keys are OLEDs. Which leads to the demo pictures of it with a Doom III layout being awesomeriffic.

Something tells me that the sub-$1000 is just a clever way of saying that they have no idea what price it will retail for, so sub-$1000 covers all the bases. :)
