BFG Intros GeForce 8800GT OCX and 9600GT OCX

BFG Technologies, Inc., the leading North American and European supplier of advanced NVIDIA-based 3D graphics cards, power supplies and other PC enthusiast products, announced today the BFG GeForce 8800GT OCX and BFG GeForce 9600GT OCX 512MB PCI Express 2.0 graphics cards.

Each new OCX edition features the highest stable clock speeds and a ThermoIntelligence custom cooling solution. The custom fansink enables the graphics processing unit (GPU) to operate up to 18° C and 30° C cooler than the stock 9600GT and 8800GT, respectively.

"Our new custom ThermoIntelligence fansink provides dramatic improvement to the GPU cooling for both of these new high-performance graphics cards", said John Malley, senior director of marketing for BFG Technologies. "With screaming-fast OCX-level clock speeds and amazing thermal performance in a quiet dual-slot design, these new graphics cards provide end users with maximum performance and minimum heat-all backed by our famous lifetime warranty and 24/7/365 expert tech support."

The all copper, two-slot fansink features sleek chrome nickel plating and green LED lighting. A variable speed fan keeps the GPU cool when the system temperature rises. BFG has also added custom aluminum heatsinks to keep the memory cool.

i think its just as the temps go up, the fan kicks in a bit more. just marketing at end of day

I reckon - it means that as the temps go up, the GPU accepts less and less workload so it can cool itself back down - think of it like most teenagers, the more work you give 'em to do, the less they actually accomplish . . . :D :p

I prefer to slap the fan speed to a manual setting where it stays at a preset speed forever!

I have team mates that set the fanspeed to adjust manually to a certain % at a certain termperature best suited to their environment/cooling/case.

None of us prefer the automated feature that the card or 3rd party software provide. I guess at the end of the day, if your going to go out and buy one of the higher end gfx cards your simply gonna have to adjust stuff manually for best results.

BFG seems to be getting all their stuff out of the closet b4 the new cards come out. Too bad the prices won't reflect the cards actual value now.

Nice cards, but honestly WAY too late to the market. At least use a 3 phase design like palit's and not the reference...

Thats not a custom heatsink, thats a Zerotherm Cooler with nickel plating. (Well it is in a way custom because Zerotherm dont sell a nickel plated green fan cooler, but honestly a marketing ploy).

www.thermointelligence.com. Better heat dissapation means it can support the increased clockspeeds better. Nice to see heatsinks on the memory too.
