Lenovo Launches IdeaPad netbook PCs

Lenovo today introduced its "e" netbooks, the IdeaPad S9e and S10e netbooks. Designed for mobile users from all walks of life, the new netbooks combine the portability of a small and light PC device starting under 1.2kg with Internet and multimedia functionality at an affordable price.
"Our new IdeaPad S10e and S9e offer Lenovo's unmatched end user experience and quality to whole new set of users in the market place." said Vincent Fauquenot, VP Transactional Business, Lenovo EMEA. "With the new netbooks, Lenovo introduces a very attractive design, price point, and specification that delivers affordable mobile computing for families and professionals."

Enabling Technology-Led Mobility
The Lenovo IdeaPad S9e and S10e netbooks are designed as lightweight mobile PCs for customers in all segments. Additionally, the Lenovo netbooks provide basic functionality for Word processing and light multimedia capabilities. For a faster PC experience, they include the Instant On feature. This allows users to quickly check email, browse the Internet, conduct video conferencing, view photos or listen to music without having to fully boot the operating system. A built-in webcam makes creating and sharing video messaging simple.

Taking netbooks to the next level
Lenovo offers a variety of customization options including hardware technologies, software and flexible warranties to fit individual needs. Users can choose from either the 8.9-inch or 10.1-inch LED backlit display sizes on the IdeaPad S9e and S10e netbooks, respectively. Choices of operating systems include Microsoft Windows XP Home, XP Pro or Novell SLED 10 Linux. Designed to handle the rigors of mobile computing, the netbooks come equipped with a 4 GB solid state drive for reliability or a hard drive up to 160 GB.

The netbooks come with the Intel Atom processor, several choices of memory size up to 1.5 GB and a variety of ports for expansion. Users can connect wired or wirelessly through Ethernet, WiFi and optional Bluetooth. Outfitted with a standard ExpressCard 34 slot, the netbooks can also be enabled for mobile broadband.

Lenovo also offers flexible warranties extending up to three years and shorter warranty periods covering limited parts replacement.

People keep saying my eee 1000h is the more expensive of the netbooks, but this proves contrary.

I paid $480, and I got 160GB hard drive, 1GB of ram, it came with bluetooth, wireless N, and a 6-cell battery.
