VIA Announces Aristo Pico 840 Mini-note for Poland
VIA Technologies, a leading innovator of power efficient x86 processor platforms, today introduced the new Aristo Pico 840 mini-note, the latest model in the Aristo Pico Series to be based on the ultra low power VIA C7-M processor platform.
Building on the success of the Aristo Pico 640 and 740, the Aristo Pico 840 has been custom designed for both the professional on the go and the digital traveler looking for on-line entertainment on the move. Its A4 notebook size, crisp 8.9 inch 1024x600 screen and light weight, at just over 1kg, make it the perfect travel companion for short trips or long journeys.
Several unique features are included in the design. The simultaneous dual screen operation (DualView) is made possible by utilizing the powerful VIA VX800 all-in-one digital media IGP chipset, which supports a second, external monitor, broadening the use of the Aristo Pico 840 from a handy, mobile device to a fully functional work computer.
And, in addition to the standard USB 2.0 ports and multimedia card reader for digital cameras or MP3 players, the device also comes with an ExpressCard 34 connector, which is uncommon in this size of computer. The Express Card 34 connector allows users to expand the functionality of their device by adding a TV tuner or UMTS/HSDP modem.
"VIA is proud to be working, once again, with Comes, SA on the introduction of the new Aristo Pico 840, the latest model in the highly successful Aristo Pico series of mini-notes being distributed in Poland." said Tim Brown, International Marketing Manager, VIA Technologes, Inc. "These days, customers care more about features and low power consumption and VIA's ultra mobile platforms assure end-users of the perfect balance of low power and high performance."
"The Aristo Pico 840 extends our line of Pico netbooks designed for customers who value high mobility and the freedom to work from any place. We hope to continue our cooperation with VIA - our trusted partner - in introducing state-of-the-art technological solutions in Europe" - said Grzegorz Haładus, spokesperson for Comes S.A.
The Aristo Pico 840 has been designed for power saving ultra-mobility. Based on a 1.2GHz VIA C7-M processor and VIA VX800 chipset, the device has a power draw of only 3.5W during operation, and a 0.1 W draw in idle mode, giving users up to 5 hours of battery life.
Extensive connectivity solutions include built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, allowing for downloading, or uploading of online media content from anywhere in the world. The Bluetooth 2.0 module also provides fully wireless communication between the computer and many office peripherals, such as printers, fax machines, etc. and supports easy data exchange with mobile phones. In addition, the built-in webcam can not only be utilized for keep in touch with family and friends over Skype but also for facilitating videoconferencing communications.
The units come with 1GB RAM and 60GB HDD and supports either Microsoft Windows XP or Linux Ubuntu 8.04 operating systems. In addition to the convenient touchpad and crisp 8.9" 1024 x 600 screen, a traditionally sized keyboard has been included to facilitate ease-of-use and access to users' favorite office applications, tools and multimedia libraries.
