Black Mesa: Source Official Trailer Released
On the 17th of November, Valve Software celebrated the 10th anniversary of the game that pretty-much made the company what it is, Half Life. Valve used the simple 3D first-person shooter genre, focused heavily on the gameplay elements to churn out an awesome game of its time. With the introduction of the Source game engine, Valve made additions to the franchise with Half Life 2 (HL2), HL2: Episode 1 and HL2: Episode 2.
While the company itself could be working on another addition, an independent community-driven group sought to commemorate the 10th anniversary, by remaking the original Half Life using the Source engine. This is not to be confused with the simple Source-engine port Valve created in the form of Half Life: Source. The game is to be called Black Mesa: Source, which is comes in the form of a Half Life 2 modification. The levels, characters, graphics and physics get a refresh to the latest Source has to offer. The game is set for release in 2009. The Black Mesa: Source team has released its official trailer that has been posted on YouTube here. To know more about Black Mesa: Source, visit its home page.

it looks awesome
will play this for sure
This is something I'd pay for -- I loved playing the original Half-life back in the day.
Fro those who are getting impatient waiting for Black Mesa, I recommend you try the MINERVA: Metastasis mod, if you haven't already. It feels like a part of the Half-Life universe, and that's probably why Valve hired the lead developer.
a worthy re-render, it seems..HL1+2 are amazing.
yup black mesa is going to kick ass ... btw you guys should play HL1, just to see how much work went into black mesa
IMO part of the success is in the BM comunnity, a good community there, I encourage you guys to make a trip there. It's really interesting, with a lot of interaction with the devs and there are many fun community projects to help a bit in the development (kinda). I even took part in one (Props that will spawn out of crates) and I was 3rd, so you will see some props made by me in the game.
I'm preparing my entry for another one ("human and alien gibs") and my brother who is an actor (not famous. yet?) will probably make some people/aliens dying sounds.
As I said take a look at the community, it's really worth it, very kind and cool peope like in TPU. I sincerely don't know why I never tried to interest some people to go there before and viceversa. FREE completely FREE. Only requirement is a Source game, so that you can have Source Base SDK, I think. And the Source Base SDK of course. :)
I am definately looking forward to this mod, I got a feeling the dev team may get hired onto valve.
when did that happen
