Evercool Intros Armor HDD Cooler

Evercool unveiled its newest hard drive cooler, the Armor HDD Cooling Box. The cooler serves as a sub-enclosure for 3.5 inch hard drives, and fits into two 5.25 inch drive bays. The 2U design allows users to stack up three 3.5 inch drives which are actively cooled by the air-flow of an 80 mm fan that pulls in fresh air from the outside, passed through dust-filters, which are removable and can be cleaned. The fan spins at 1200 rpm, with a noise level of less than 26 dBA. The body is made of coated iron and plastic. It is also available in silver colour. The company is yet to commence shipping of the Armor HDD Cooling Box.

Why buy this if you can get a Lian Li HDD-Kit EX-34NB that holds 4 hdd's and a 120mm Fan AND made out of aluminium instead of cheap plastic? For not even 25 euro's (around $30)?

Maybe my understanding is a bit outdated but... isn't the fan being that close to the drives a bit adverse to their longevity, with the fan generating a weak magnetic field and all..?

that seems nice as well. the difference is that people might only want to utilize 2 bays instead of 3. they also might not want to advertise for LL with the name directly in the center ;o

Did anyone take a close look at that stack of hard drives? The top one says "IBM Deskstar, May 2001". So that's what happened to the infamous "Deathstar" drives after they croaked - they ended up as props for product announcement photos.

They also have a Lian Li EX-23NB with an 80mm fan. Holds 3hdd's in a fully aluminium casing.

Why would u not want a LL name on your case? :p i love mine

Looks like the iStarUSA one

www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856999209

EDITED: Looked like the same one at 1st lol. And it' only good for 2 HDD's as there real close to each other.

I like the icage more even more so with a few mods done to it. Thing is either one takes more space than the one in the original post. And to fit 4 HHD would have the HDD's real close to each other still.

far too weak to do anything. try putting a pin next to a fan motor, it wont even stick. If its too weak to affect a pin, its too weak to affect a hard drive by far.

Well with the front of my case already being filtered i was able to take the front plastic part off and just screw mine in behind the default case filters.
