The AMD Athlon X2 4850e was a desktop processor with 2 cores, launched in March 2008. It is part of the Athlon 64 X2 lineup, using the Brisbane architecture with Socket AM2. Athlon X2 4850e has 512 KB of L2 cache and operates at 2.5 GHz. AMD is building the Athlon X2 4850e on a 65 nm production process using 154 million transistors. The multiplier is locked on Athlon X2 4850e, which limits its overclocking capabilities.
With a TDP of 45 W, the Athlon X2 4850e consumes typical power levels for a modern PC. For communication with other components in the computer, Athlon X2 4850e uses a PCI-Express Gen 2 connection.
