The Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9775 was a desktop processor with 4 cores, launched in March 2008. It is part of the Core 2 Extreme lineup, using the Yorkfield XE architecture with Socket 771. Core 2 Extreme QX9775 has 12 MB of L2 cache and operates at 3.2 GHz. Intel is making the Core 2 Extreme QX9775 on a 45 nm production node using 820 million transistors. You may freely adjust the unlocked multiplier on Core 2 Extreme QX9775, which simplifies overclocking greatly, as you can easily dial in any overclocking frequency. With a TDP of 150 W, the Core 2 Extreme QX9775 is extremely power hungry, which means you need top-notch cooling. Intel's processor supports DDR2 memory. This processor does not have integrated graphics, you will need a separate graphics card. Hardware virtualization is available on the Core 2 Extreme QX9775, which greatly improves virtual machine performance.
Being an Extreme Edition processor, it features an unlocked FSB multiplier that allows users to set the multiplier value above its shipped value.
Unlike the QX9770, this chip uses the LGA-771 socket and is only compatible with Intel D5400XS "Skulltrail", and supports dual-socket operation, for two of these chips to function in tandem.
