Thanks for stickin up for me Mussels, but anyways, yes LOL 1.1 pci-e

but, at least I will be in ATI setups so I can go AMD for my next proc upgrade or i7, i5 , I figured I get what I want now (back to my board that sent my e6750 to 4.4ghz on air at 1.5v ) and have zero restrictions for the christmas upgrade.

Oh man I wasn't trashin ya! I was just asking. Anyway welcome to the forums. I take getting used to. Erocker is my girlfriend and Danthebanjoman will touch you in your naughty.

they probably won't saturate the 1.1 bandwidth anyway. I wouldn't worry about it.

sorry, i'll post the specs.

Radeon 5xx0 cards will have the following specifications:

  • At least one GPU
  • Some memory, likely of a DDR variant
  • outputs for a monitor
  • Fit in a PCI-E slot
  • Draws power
  • Produces heat
  • has a heatsink, likely with a fan on it
  • has drivers for windows

There you are, a total rundown of the new radeon video card specifications!

Can output to HD TV. Lol

question begged to be asked however...what is Nvidia doing? I rather doubt they're just sitting there twiddling their thumbs waiting for ATI to release next gen cards first and react later...if they take gt200 and shrink to 40nm and use ddr5...nevermind if they improve the architecture and so on just the two improvements I just listed with higher clockspeeds and perhaps more shaders etc would be competition for the theoretical performance gains of this ATI monster. Then again, all theory, but simply saying that Nvidia has a very good starting point to come up with one heck of a card, yet no news recently on it and only talk of ATI...beware the quiet ones they say.

lol im sure nvidia is working on something. But thats common sence. and yes so they say lol...:roll: *waves her hands* wooooooo lol

specs are does be known not as yet.
[/yoda]

lmao! "Known as of yet the spec are not" "The specs are known, as of yet not" hahahha

If the manufacturing tech is 40nm (crosses fingers) it shouldn't be that bad. though whatever x2 they make may be a power hog.

not near as much im sure i think its gotten better than that. the power hog will be (ratio wise) if they spit a 90 out on the single card at some point. I think the 90 will be a trend from now on something tells me "mid season" addon updates to lineup. (for both camps)

Very smart move, especially if it continue's into their proffessional lineup of cards where they might support even more hopefully.

I envision 3 24" monitors either 1920 x 1200 or 1080 powered by two of their most powerful GPU's playing FSX or SupCom 2 when it comes out scaled across 3 monitors flawlessly.

yup super smart i never liked double screen i dont want a split while driving :p

I wouldn't be so quick to say that. The new gen of cards from BOTH camps are going to be pumping out some serious graphical power. The bandwidth from ATI's flagship card is going to be pumping around 250GB/s, and Nvidia's to be around 300GB/s. Of course these are just rumored, but seem pretty accurate or maybe they mean the single-pcb dual-core cards like the x2's ?

In any case, PCI-E 3.0 will be making it's debut around Q2-Q3 of 2010. So I think its safe to say that PCI-E 1.1 is being pushed to the limit, if not already.

But why would you make something thats more than 50% more powerfull than the last thing you made!? Money is in baby steps not big steps. Sell the cards for the same money as they were 50% faster while being only 15-25% faster is an easy way to earn more money.

I'd say 1200SP is more likely... or 2400SP on 5870x2...

I just hope the price is right...

as the power goes i don't see why not have the same or less power consumption than 4800's. 4800's had almost the same power consumption as 3800's (a bit bigger, depending on the model)

I think 5800's are coming to soon to be revolutionary... i hope DX11 delivers better than DX10, and i hope we see some PhysX stuff from ATI!!!

(why would you make something thats more than 50% more powerfull than the last thing you made)

So they can beat the competition obviously.

Still wish ATI would would come out with a 512bit card. Coupled with DDR5 that would be a monster. IMO
I know it would be expensive but I'd pay.

Yeah, agreed. I'd take a single core high end card over a X2 in a heart beat. Something like ~400mm² die size with 32ROPs/120TMUs/2400SPs, 2GB @ 512bit @ DDR-5000 (320GB/s), 4+2 phase Volterra VT1195SF 2×Pulse PA1313NL for core/uncore, 1 phase Volterra VT1195SF for memory vDDQ and 1 phase Volterra VT1165SF for memory vDD. All on a 9.0" circuit board similar to design as ATi PCB#109-800131-00, that is, the shorter OEM version of HD2900XT.

¦P~

Hopefully its featured in their "powerplay" technology, but i want to see some real improvements in the hybrid crossfire technology. Its extremely common to have onboard graphics on mobos now adays, and with that it would be awesome to be able to shut off the discrete card when its not needed... That would be SSOO SWEET.
