Your GTX275 should be able to play the game at its highest settings with PhysX on. The problem is either driver conflicts or there's a problem elsewhere in your system. I was playing this game at a friends house using a E6600 @ 3.2ghz, DDR2 800 Ram and a GTX260. All on high, physX enabled.

ive tried several drivers.

They are releasing the PC version like 20 days later than console because of physx optimization and implementation*..

if there is a problem in my system where do you suggest i look, or how can i test

erocker, I can play the game just fine and it looks great, but there is a couple areas where I drop to around 10-12 fps or so.. (the zaz floor tile part) mainly..

plus UT3 ageia physx maps run like crysis on a geforce 3.. but all other ut3 maps run flawless

Problem part is that last screenshot.

I think it's just the game (until someone shows a screenshot of that tile braking drop without a slowdown :p). Or did you have problems else where with slowdowns?

A bit more playing. btw. wonderfull game for alt+tab. Have had it paused on background the whole time and works still fine :)

Hopefully it's not your PSU, and it shouldn't be since Antec EW's are nice so we'll skip that for now. First thing I would try is running everythng stock, play the game and see what happens. You'll still get some slowdowns due to the bottleneck from your CPU but if something was unstable with your overclock, the slowdowns won't be as bad. After, try OC'ing again and test your OC's for stability using OCCT.

aaahhh ha!

I reset my cpu settings back to stock when I made a deal to trade it!

Now it makes sense as to why I have noticed a change.. I guess I'mn going to wait until I get the q9450 comes and ill do some comparison runs..

fwiw: my 3 v rail is a few points lower than specified and 12v rail is right at 12

Those tiles sure are taxing on the system, did some Batarang throwing.

edit: test from above and runs fine with tiles breaking.

Seems it's more about the reflections there, when you are down below and not the PhysX part that slows it down. Anyhow it's the game, "bad" coding job, patch time. Still they did a pretty nice job.

edit2: This bloom part is what slows it down for me there, just stading.

I'll stop spamming screenshots now, but try and adjust some hdr/bloom/reflection setting and see how it goes.

Benchmark Scores I don't benchmark.
Then it would seem like the issue is the game itself. I wouldn't upgrade or change your cards out. Try compensating for it until the eventual patch comes out. What you are running everything else at, AA, AF? I know the screen res. you are using, so trying taking those down a notch and you should get good improvement in frame rate, even in physX heavy areas.

Bleh, get off them 185.xx drivers...I found them to be garbage for my 260. Currently I'm on the 190.62whql's and having no issues in any games as of yet...I'll download this demo and see what happens.

odd...I had no issues with 190.62's and downclocking...but then I'm on an older genII 65nm 216 GT200, so maybe there's something different...I'm also on Vista x64 SP2...dunno if there's any difference there either tbh. I did notice after installing these drivers there was no prompt for restart even though it was needed because the card wouldn't downclock and evga precision gave me some odd readings for temps.

Keep us posted man, tbh I have a feeling it's the game demo at this point. But iirc you did mention you had crap performance in UT3's physx maps too correct? I must be honest I have not ran driver cleaner over a previous nv driver install for quite a while...I actually found I had more issues by running the cleaner and then installing fresh drivers then the other way around...so I simply download and install over the old drivers...except with them pesky 185 drivers...had to clean them up. I had ok luck with the 186 series too, I still think the 182 series was one of the best for my card...dunno when 275 support was added to drivers though.

New in Release 190.62

Adds WHQL support on Windows 7 for Microsoft’s new DirectX GPU Computing API: DirectCompute.
Optimized for the latest PhysX gaming titles: Batman: Arkham Asylum and Darkest of Days.
Installs PhysX System Software version 9.09.0814.
Includes several bug fixes. More information can be found in the release documentation.
What is your Windows 7 upgrade plan? Take a Quick Survey.

The downclocking issue might be something you need to just live with, because the latest drivers are optimized for Batman: AA, so using older drivers might be a big part of your problem.

You can always downclock manually using Rivatuner if the few watts bothers you.

The heat and power you save from going to 2d clocks from 3d clocks is minimal, where the true consumption happens is during loads from gaming/3d usage. Imho that should be a pretty small factor, and you might have to give and take here...do you want to give up more performance in the game/physx arena to take 2d downclocking? Frankly I'd go the other way and had to back with some 182 series of drivers...tbh it's a pretty small price to pay for losing 2d downclocking if you can gain in gaming performance and stability.

These screens were taken using 190.38's and are pretty similar to results of the 62's

so you're saying its okay if the card doesnt downclock?

Why wouldn't it be? Really the power savings from the clocks lowering isn't as much as many think, guys that have used the Kill-A-Watt to measure only found a small handful of watts saved between idling at full 3d clocks and idling at 2d clocks. I think everyone expected more because of the monolithic gpu design, but really it wasn't anything vast or major. Similar to the Intel power saving goodies, sure I run with them enabled even while OC'd, but I know full well they don't save me THAT much in all honesty..but with the GPU it's nice when that feature works, but isn't hurting a thing by not dropping the clocks..you might run a couple degrees warmer, but tbh that's about the biggest change. Plus iirc part of the reason some older drivers disabled that feature was for a stuttering issue when the drivers were a tad slow to detect going into 3d causing some minor stuttering a while back. Frankly, it hurts nothing to run full speed all the time on these cards. Why wouldn't it be ok? If there's no load, there's no load...no different than running your cpu full speed all the time, it'll still increase in temps when it's under load and cool off when not in use, idle clocks or not.

:toast:

Edit: Downloading the demo thru steam atm, just started at just over 2gb it's gonna be a little bit on my connection, downloading at about 500Kb/s...but I'll keep ya posted once I get it going.

very well said kursah, thank you. I'll stop worrying about 2d mode. You made perfect sense.
