one relatively easy way to tell would be that if your board is SLI/crossfire and has 2.0 slots, it cant link up with any 1.1 slots since they'd be on a different controller.

as for boards where everythings 1.1, bit hard to tell.

I've reported back earlier about phy PCI-E lanes on P5B DLX, I think it wont work if PCI-E's are from different HUB's.

Traditional SLI has been setup between the 2.0 and 1st 1.1 slot on many many different reviews.

But the 6600's don't support Tri SLI.

Edit: I think it will have to be replaced in safe mode or some other way.
I was trying to test with the other modded hal.dll & it would not let me overwrite in normal windows node.

anatolymik's solution is going to be a lot easier for Vista/Windows 7 64-bit because of the driver signing stuff we'd have to get around.

anatolymik, did you notice the subsys ID stuff I was talking about a few pages back? I'm not sure which device the driver is checking the subsys ID of, but that's how it determines the motherboard manufacturer. Some motherboards wont work (Abit, for example) if we only patch the vendor ID and device ID.

Haha. Sorry... It was just easy to take the existing code and move it to Vista/Windows7 because they're both 32 bit. Besides, most people are still running 32 bit anyways. That's just starting to change, though.

The patching is complete and the driver worked! This one also assumes you have an ASUS motherboard, so use an ASUS SLIC. I'm sending it to TiN.

I already have ASUS SLIC in the W7 64bit. Did that today & worked on some other stuff trying to get SLI workin in it.
