humm noticed something :)

You are curently looking at the back of a x1900xtx. Now notice the 3 ics that are circled..^^ Those are in a different configuration on my gt.
Id like you guys to take a look at your cards and tell me what you see. :) ..and wether or not your card has unlocked in your atempts.

Guesses what it could be:
*something to do with vivo (less likely imo since it is different on 2 models which have the same vivo feature set.) But.. it is odly close to that
ntsc/pal switch so idono lol :(

*device id config (may be why when i flash this card to a xt 256 bios the device ID doesn't change.)

*pipe config (prolly not imo but still worth checkin out)

^^just guesss:toast: i realy don't know

card pictured above (and my xt):
o-o o
o o-o
o-o o

my gt (xt pcb ruby single slot cooler):
o-o o
o-o o

It is absolutely possible the device ID to be set with resistor matrix on the board. But be sure that you compare equal cards (VIVO with VIVO for instance). I have done that mistake with the X800PRO and XT AGP.

Success :)

yep :) it will be intersting to see what they look like on the cards that peeps are able to edit the device id on. (the new gt's)

so tofu did you unlocked pipelines with changis's x1900xt 256 bios again. or is this the old sh.t again.

if its something new would u post the results.

I have compared X1900GT VIVO and there is the above difference in the pointed resistor matrix. Unfortunately I can't find high resolution pictures of GT (front and back) to compare with XT(X) but having both cards you can do it. If I would you I would even move the resistor and to check whether the Device ID will be changed after the flash.

If I have X1900GT which can be unlocked to 16 pipes I will try to convert it to X1900XT using every chance for that. But it is me what you will do with you card is your choice ;) .
If you succeed to find something interesting let us know.

Its the same old sh!t.

Trying out bios modifications to X1900GT based of the XT 256 bios.
No success so far//

The resistor matrix looks promising tho.

if it works out just moving that one resistor for 4 extra pipelines, I may have to buy a solder iron :p

youll prob. have to flash the XT bios as well..

then I'll prob. sell my club3d as a 256xt and scrap 1900gt crossfire :p

i broke off a resistor bigger than that on one of my cards once and i couldnt get it back on with a regular soldering iron.. :( you need like some kind of special iron if your gonna try to move that thing and prolly a pro to do it

btw ive checked some other gt and xt pix online and that config seems to hold true

guys i realy boubt that that resistor matrix is locking the pipes i think it is just locking the device id

id like to see what those ic's look like on one of those red cooler new pcb gt's :) since people have been able to change the device id on those right?

The resistor probably is responsible for the device ID and can't help with pipe unlocking (I am sure for that because it is already tested on X800). Personaly I preffer to do all the hardmods (voltmods on the core/memory) removing the original resistors, replacing them with VR and finding the desired resistance (voltage). After that I am using the nearest SMD 0603 resistor (with lower than desired resistance) scratching the edge of the resisting layer until the exact desired value is reached. The multimeter should be connected all the time. (example: if I need 1130 Ohm I am choosing 1100 Ohm SMD and scratching the resistor to 1130 Ohm). Finnaly I am soldering back all together with normal soldering iron 30W and all works fine every time. You just need a practice :) .

i wander if breaking one or some of them off would allow you to set the device id via bios (asuming that it is a device id thingy) does anyone know if the device id can be set via bios on a x1900xt? cause it cant in the gt configuration

The device ID seems locked. Let compare and to find the difference between the following cards: X1900XT (XTX) and 256MB XT - Device ID=7249, X1900GT 256MB - ID=724B, X1900CF - ID=7249.

Obviously the difference is only one digit in Device ID (last digit) on the GT compared with XT. The CF card has Device ID=7249 and different SubSystem ID=0D02 all the other cards have 0B12. But I suppose that SubSystem and SubVendor ID's can be changed during flashing.

Hopefully that single difference of the device ID can be changed with switching over the resistor's position. But it should be experimented.

GODDAMNIT.... read the thread first.. and if you didn't because its so long, that shows your commitment..
"Hi i found this page and wow, 3-4 of all the people here have unlocked their x1900gt's. I'll post my bios so I can unlock 2" (you posted your bios, that means you probably have read a little bit of this thread, but then you should also have noticed that you can modify your bios all you want, if you dont have a pro core / 0x3FE4 pipe select card, it will not unlock.
and even if you do, how about actually posting your GB pipeselect and GPU core values...?

Yeah, you've said that far too many times to ppl who don't read the damn thread. :banghead:

This is the last fkn time I mod for someone who don't read the thread.
