I have always read that Ultra aren't the best quality. I have a 600W I got free after rebate that works ok. But if I were spending good money, I'd get a Corsair, the new XFX PSU, or similar over these Ultra PSUs.

I think they are great for replacing PSU's in OEM systems but I'd look elsewhere when needing a PSU for a highend system.

I've used total of five Ultra power supplies over the years, two modular ones (from the eye-catching Titanium series) and three non-modular ones. I've never had any problems with them. Never had a piece of hardware attached to them die or had the power supplies themselves die on me. Also, Ultra are the only ones to offer lifetime warranty on their power supplies upon registration. (You get only one year if you don't register.) That's pretty extraordinary. With that said I've heard some horror stories about Ultra power supplies over at HardForum, but again myself I've experienced zero problems with them.

I have had one Ultra I got for free with my Case. I love my Ultra Aluminus Case, but when in a different direction for the PSU. The 550W Modular one they game me I sold to a friend and as far as I know it is still going strong now after 3 years. Powers an old P4, 7800 GTX, 4 GB of DDR RAM, 1 DVD burner, 1 CD ROM, and 2 HDDs.

I am not sure who actually manufactures them, but these are the first I know of with 80+ certification and bronze at that. I am glad the claim down on all the chrome they use to use on their PSU's.

Not sure if they are 80+ certified but the product says more than 85% efficient and When I test a 80% certified and Ultra 85% efficient both consume/show the same current consumption. So I guess they are working efficiently.

I have been using Ultra brand PSUs for a while now, recently switched to Antecs tho. The Ultra PSUs to me are good for the $ and they work. But the fans start to become loud over a period. My X Pro 600W was quiet initially but started to make sometimes jumbo jet taking off kind of noise. No time to replace it Lol. But the rails are spot on, no stability issues, powers my power hungry Gaming rig fine.

Above all Ultra's Tech support and Warranty are A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++.

Ultra is a brand owned by Systemax, Inc. whom also owns TigerDirect. TigerDirect always carries Ultra products. I'm not sure if any other major retailer carries them.

As I recall the X3s were single rail... so I'd say these are as well, X4 probably just the "next generation" branding

Ultra is there house brand, so no, only TigerDirect has Ultra Products. Maybe CircuitCity.com will have them as well.

FrozenCPU sells Ultra stuff.

I got an Ultra X2 550w when it first came out. Was baffled at the modular idea and have used it ever since. That same PSU is still running an older system.

Back in the day i decided to see how far i could push it. It ran a Q6600 and 2 8800GTX's under water overclocked. Even though it got a little warm it still put out solid power. (my system at the time was nowhere near that powerful)

I heard the X3 line was junk and so i went a different route. I would be willing to bet they want to redeem their name with this line. (Well, it looks like it)
