How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

See it was you own problem "a hardware problem"
Had you read the thread like the rest of us & was more clear about hardware being used
I'm sure you could have found the answer & not wasted your time & vend about it.
Had I seen a post about 790 I could have pointed you back to were it was already talked about & worked threw.

dont think i were so lazy, to not even look a few pages back. but after 20 pages or so, i didnt got results, and neither got P_O_S_PC, who had the same problem,as stated;)
nevermind, anatolymik has pointed me towards a potential error. i should bring it to run, somewhere in the future.;)

The actual making & testing of a working hack started on page 9 post 219.
Hey you could always do a walk threw "or manual as you call it" to better layout the
understanding of the "how to set this up", now that you have done it yourself w/ 790.
Since the other wasn't much help to you. I'm sure you can do a much better job. ;)

AMEN

(I'm Spanish, so, in case that "amen" doesn't make any sense in other languages, I tried to say: "So be it", that means I TOTALLY AGREE with you, "TheWolf")

im not familiar with the hack on code base.;) i believe, the manual should be written by a person, that at least can explain, where, when and why things happen, when you perform the mods.
the manual regarding Vista/Win7 64bit was good enough to make it functional, but the manual regarding XP was very spartanic in my eyes. and it had too few warnings ;-)

Well if I couldn't do any better than what has been done I wouldn't step on someone else's work. :shadedshu
That's all I got to say on the matter.

all none W7 x64 OS have to follow the same steps: use modded 190.67 file (acc to OS) and get the SLIC somehow in the right place. do it manually or use the installer. if problems with SLI it is only because SLIC is not in the right place or the board-PCIe-lanes causing problems.

Win XP x64 is still not supported -> Use Vista or W7 x64!

Slistring install is for any os so far
HAL's only dedicated to single OS version
Driver's modded core - too, single driver version.

No other limits. Lack of mods for other OS is just because this project is a hobby, and only few people develop it on their free time. We just started with XP32, then move on to W7 64bit (as most complex mod from point of development), then some initial versions for W7 32bit mod, and now anatolymik and sveetsnelda work on 195.xx forceware driver branch, AFAIK.

you stll dont got, im not a native speaker,eh? it was just critique.
if good work, doesnt get constructive Critique, many flaws can sneak in,i believe.
i NEVER stepped on the work of anatolymik, but he knows it better than you.
he saw it as constructive critique from what i know, and were currently working the bug
can you now stop arguing?:) thank you.
its was a misunderstanding.

XP 32 scheint immer noch nicht zu gehen, und davon ist da auch nirgendwo die rede.
egal, das win7 64 gefällt mir recht gut, nun, das schon ein paar einstellungen gemacht sind:)

Some news: Just tried to set up SLI with 2x7900GS on this Mainboard: http://geizhals.at/a447175.html

modded driver for vista x64 and SLI-Installer: Both worked fine but no SLI. I guess it is the x4 on the second slot ;)

Same config was working fine the same way on my P45 with 2xPCIex16@x8

it depends on the board and the 4x doesn't make a difference(i'm running SLI with x8,x4). Use the HAL mod its really easy under 7 64bit they even have a tool on the site that will do it for you :toast:

the same files and cards work perfekt sing fake-sli on that intel-board ;)

can only be the missing sli-bridge, the x4 or the chipsatz-lane-management.

string installer tells me SLIC found. so i guess its in the registry. I will check that manually later by myself

sounds very similar to my problems with just the modded forceware

SLIC is in the DSDT. The only thing: I would have put it another place. But the Block is still okay.

Can only be a chipset issue if x4 makes usually no problem.

BTW: manually compiling with asl gives me the same error like before with my MSI. AMDs special

you mean, you had an error, during asl compiling?
i also had, and i dont knew,why:o
i wanted to try to edit the dsdt table myself, but it didnt worked due to that

anatolymik used the direct way editing the .DAT (the way stringinstaller is working) - trying W7 x64 now

@€: after reboot SLIC found... installing nv-driver now

@€2: SLI-capable System found :D

sooo: amd-users should use W7 x64 halmod only

lol some will do anything to get in the last word when they know there wrong.
anatolymik didn't make up the manual, TiN did & if I'm not mistaken he is German or is that Russian?
We are talking about two different things.

I've gone through a half dozen guides on how to get SLI on a non-"SLI Ready" board, and none have worked. I'm sure I'm the umteenth-thousandth person to beg for help...but so be it

I have an AMD 790GX (DFI LanParty JR) and 2 9800 GT's from BFG..... can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to get this going? Like I said before, no patches have worked and no step-by-step with the command prompt and 10 dif files worked.....I'm frustrated, but have stumbled upon these forums which seem to be the origin of this very problem (ironically).

OS: WinXP 32

Use Win7 64 or Win Vista 64, and do the Hal.dll mod
at least that helped me and another member.
We didnt got any 32 bit os to run on 790gx boards

Yes atm I guess so. I dont know why but with AMD-Chipset you should use the W7 x64 Halmod guide... No success withe the modded driver (same steps with the modded driver +Vista x64 worked fine on my P45 - but nogo on my 785G)

I don't have a copy of W7, but I do have Vista Ultimate 32 and 64....you said those work with SLI? You know for a fact ?

vista and win7 should be nearly the same (just the "bones");)
i believe P_o_s_pc tested Vista 64 to be working, but 32 bit dont worked.

AMD 785G (Asus Evo):
Vista Enterprise x64 + modded driver + SLIC = nogo
Windows 7 Pro x64 + halmod + SLIC = it is a go
Windows 7 Pro x64 + modded driver + SLIC = not tested
32bit: who needs 32bit today!? ;)

AMD 790FX (MSI GD70):
Windows 7 Pro x64 + halmod + SLIC = it is a go
others not tested

Intel P45 (CTHIM P45)
Vista Business x64 + modded driver + SLIC = it is a go
others not tested

Sure your installing the correct driver?
This should be the correct driver to use for those cards: http://www.nvidia.com/object/Quadro_win7_winvista_64bit_191.66_whql.html
You shouldn't need any hacks or mod drivers to run SLI with that setup from the way it looks.

Existing Support:

•Supports NVIDIA SLI technology (two-way SLI) for DirectX 9, DirectX 10, and OpenGL on SLI-certified Intel X58-based motherboard based system from select OEMs.

Edit: If you want to run older drivers they can be found here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us
Pick from the list type: Quadro: OS: W7 64: vcard versions: & Language. That should get you a list of drivers.
BTW there is no 190.62 driver for Quadro cards. So its not the correct driver to use.

List of drivers for those cards:
