Comparing a GTX285 to an HD5870? No suprises there with both using the same card for Physx in all honesty...I would've expect those results. A semi interesting article, but it'll be more useful when the GTX4xx series are out and you can do a modern gen vs modern gen...yay ATI's top single gpu card of the new gen beat NV's top single gpu card of last gen...umm..expected.

Beyond that, I'm so tied up in BC2, I'm not worried too much about NV's release yet...at least till we see what higher res textures in BC2 does to my poor old 260!

u can't compare a 57xx series with a old dx10 gtx 280 (240 cuda cores) model
New fermi comes with 512 cores.....with GDDR5 mem+dx11

not from a technical standpoint. but GTX 3XX series is giong to be DX 10.1 and supposedly DX11 can be emulated on dx10.1 card but at a performance cost. But and HD 5770 pales in comparison to a GTX 285 performance wise,

Now bout a year ago nvidia tried to shrink the GT200 core to 40nm but it wasn't working out, hence there was no refresh:GT212, 214, and 216 core. But i wonder if nvidia might have seen there would be problems with fermi and decided to go ahead and work on the GT200 core till it did work at 40nm level. Plus if u remember GT200 was supposed to be 256 SPU's, not 240. SOOO if GTX 3XX series is a GT200 shrink, then it could also include all 256SPU's, be dx10.1, and while emulating DX11 with the performance hit, still outpace an HD 5770.

its not that DX10.1 emulates DX11, its just that DX11 titles will all support DX10 by default.

Instead of having to make DX9, 10 and 11 exe files for the game, they can just make the one for 10/10.1/11

Oh yes I can't. I am having way too much issues with them. Unless NVIDIA goes bankrupt I am going Fermis. And there is nothing you ppl can do about it.

No, the bad logic is claiming you are going to switch, before you even know how good it is.

I have had troubles with AMD cards since HD2xxx series, only minor issues with NVIDIA products. I try everything on the market. I have had over 30 cards in last few years.

Consumer will vote with his experience.

I have just as much experience. I was actually sponsored by an gfx card company that focused mostly on nVidia until the 4k series came along.

My question still stands, how do you KNOW it's better?

I'll answer for you. You don't. Until it releases, and is fully reviewed and people have them for a little while to test, you have no way of knowing if it will be better or worse or even just the same.

I could say the same about Nv but I wont as i've had several AMD products and haven't had many issues at all, the Last issue i had was catalyst 7.7 Drivers. You also have to realize these parts are still new and the tech behind them is different from the Radeon 4000 lineup

Exactly. Fermi might have more problems than the ATI card. If that's the case, are you still gonna ditch the 5k card?

Now if fermi is better, more power to you. I haven't bought a 5k card yet because I'm waiting to see how well fermi does.

It needs to suck real bad for me to keep HD5s. I jsut sold my second HD 5870 because of overhelming number of troublems.

120Hz monitor and AMD and Crossfire Uh Oh... :shadedshu
