yup, theres a GT340 too, and its an exact copy of the GT 240

Maybe they invested a lot into Fermi (which is a 'radical' new idea - at least to consumers), and are not going to go out on a limb on multiple sectors? Honestly I wouldn't expect them to have the revenue to do such things.

Sounds smart to me. Sounds like someone's going to keep their job .

That was last year dude.

Reports put it as low as 20% and as high as 55-60% for "Fermi" chips. Now, which does the GTX 480 and 470 fall in to I don't know, but 2% is way in the past from everything that is out there.

Since "spammers" like to post on this frustrating Nvidia matter, it's more fair to the moderators not to have to deal with this crap in one thread over and over again.

Fermi/GTX 480 unfixable, broken

GTX 480 broken/unfixable

The chip is unworkable, unmanufacturable, and unfixable. If Nvidia management has any semblance of engineering sense, it will declare its usual victory with Fermi and focus resources on Fermi II, something it is still promising for 2010. The changes needed to fix the first Fermi are basically not doable until the chip is shrunk to 28nm, the size is just too big.

This puts any hope for Nvidia out until 2011 for anything but PR stunts. The derivative parts for Fermi exist only on paper, they haven't taped out yet. If Nvidia does tape them out, they will have the same size, yield and power problems as Fermi GF100. ATI will price them into the red, so there is no way Nvidia can make money on the derivatives, and there is no way it can fix the problems in time to matter either. Nvidia will not have any economically viable DX11 parts until the last days of 2010 if everything goes well from here.

As we have been saying since last May, Fermi GF100 is the wrong chip, made the wrong way, for the wrong reasons. Dear Leader has opened the proverbial can of Whoop-Ass on the competition, and on top of that criticized Intel's Larrabee for everything that ended up sinking Fermi GF100. Intel had the common sense to refocus Larrabee and take a PR hit rather than pouring tens of millions more dollars down the drain for no good reason. It doesn't look like Nvidia has the management skills to make that call. The company not only designed a 'Laughabee', it went against all sense and built that too.

I see nvidia slacking bad over the Next 2 Years. If they don't get Fermi out soon they might fail
I see AMD/ATI and Intel Starting to build market share. I see intel and AMD/ATi Selling a lot more Low-Mid range Cards in Starter Systems at good old Walmart PC(dell HP ect). With 70% of these people be happy with the Intel or AMD intergrated Graphics so they will not upgrade.
AMD/ATI and Intel with there stronger earning Will slowly phase out Nvidia. Nvidia with it's Loss of sales from chipsets and Lower end graphics cards will start bleeding cash. So when it come down to it Fermi is all they will have. "IF" Fermi is Broken unfixable or very bad yields We might get to see them Start bleeding cash Soon. lets hope that R@D turns off the lights at night, or wait maybe the power was shut off months ago.

Even if most of it is true, it's still "told by Charlie" with all his anti-nVidia bias, so all the bad parts are certainly exaggerated.

Notice it is GTX 480 and not 470.

There are a few on B3D that are suggesting that GTX 470s are not the hard parts to get but the full 512 GTX 480 is (per TDP and clock targets). If you give me a few I'll see if I can find a few posts to quote.
