If you own an AMD GPU, the 12.2 drivers are causing graphical issues within Skyrim in certain systems, so if you have installed those drivers, revert to the 12.1s.

My bad, it was 2 nether dragons and 1 frost dragon, barely escaped, after a while, returned and accomplishing a mission, and they are still swirling around there... :banghead:

I could have taken them. I take like zero damage from dragons.

How do you get more shouts? I found dozens of shouts but when I go to use one it says I need to absorb more dragon souls. I must have killed 30 of them F#$Kers. How many do I have to kill before it lets me use one of the shouts I found?

Go into your menu, go to shouts, find the one you are trying to use, and it will most likely be grey. Press Enter as instructed in the bottom right corner to unlock the shout. If you have more than one word of it, repeat until the entire thing is white.

Repeat until you run out of spare souls or unlock all the words you have so far.

Ah ok. Thanks. I kinda just play Skyrim like Ray Charles. I'm like Lvl 30 with one shout.

The shadows are constantly moving as the camera angle is changed. The problem goes away slightly in first person mode; the shadows are generated in the correct areas and interact somewhat correctly, but they are still incredibly unstable.

Also none of these are shot from 1st person mode, only from the toggle-free camera and also in 3rd person mode.

Thanks for any ideas as to what might be the issue.

Hey everyone, thanks for your input on this shadowing issue I've been having. Unfortunately, I have been unable to eliminate the problem, and it has appeared to be more of a hindrance on gameplay that I had thought.

I do not have an NVIDIA graphics card, so I don't think the issue is stemming from there.

I verified my game cache and nothing appeared to be wrong.

I also am not running antialiasing functions.

If it helps any diagnosis, the shadows are not fixed and are constantly jumping around as the camera is moved.

Any more advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Yeah, try an older driver like 12.1 at the newest. I've had some spectacularly aggravating problems with this game, frustrating me to the point of reinstalling to find out its my drivers. Purple textures and missing trees were the biggest problems for me, I never had a shadow problem. Sometimes drivers can cause wierd glitches that seem to point to other sources though.

Also, is it just me or does it seem like this game punishes you for not playing it constantly? :roll:

I've left it alone for a couple weeks, and then when I came back to it, same settings, its running at like 45fps where it used to be 60. Second time this has happened. :wtf:

hmmm when launching skyrim it just opens and closes and never launches anything... Verifying cache just skips to 100% and does nothing.

Hmmm...

Can you launch it if you open the TESV.exe? Or did you accidently delete the game files or something? Because it shouldn't skip to 100 even if everything's fine.

I updated my driver and that did the trick. It took a little looking around but I eventually just ended up at the NVIDIA website and had it detect my card. The download fixed my game right up. Thanks for the help in resolving this issue. Now I can get back to fighting dragons without wondering where the hell they are!!

Yay, I thought it was a driver issue. But earlier you said you didn't have an nvidia card, that's why I mentioned the ati numbers. Oh well, irrelevant now. Problems better.

So since I use Realistic Lighting with Customization for my lighting and such, I really wanted a good DOF, so i did try Dynavision. It kind of sucked. So I then wondered if there was a Bokeh DOF stand alone, and low and behold there is. Searched DOF and found one. This guy just took the Bokeh DOF out of the ENBseries and made it so only DOF would be active none of the other stuff from ENB series would. I now run it and its awesome, It still has the ENB series inevitable performance loss, but Its still playable

Check it out if you want DOF, but without the extra effects of ENBseries

Anyhow I am also having an issue, for some reason I killed this frost dragon but that's it, no soul came out of it, but I did manage to get the dragon bones. Why is this?

As far as I know, thats ENB after the latest patch, and it doesn't sound like it will be fixed anytime soon. I ended up going with RCRN because of that.

Anyone know how to get rid of all this gray fog I'm getting in the distance?

Is it something in the ENB .ini or Skyrim .ini I can do? Its really bugging me.

Game looks great till it hits the fog. I'll be running and as I run it the gray just fades further and further back. This can't be how the fog works?

So I just decided to return to Skyrim. I been picking up mods over the last few days, I finally got all of my texture packs installed and was going to fire up the game to see if all was well with them. I selected a save I had right at character creation spot. Loading screen went through then just a black screen with sound. I alt tabbed out and the game was frozen so I closed it (I then tried a completely new game, same result). I then deleted my Data folder and re-verified my game cache. Then I launched a completely Vanilla game and tried starting a completely new game, same result. Specs are on the left, running the RC11 drivers for the 7970, any ideas here?
