Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas isn't as good a deal as you might think.

I've had this stick for 4 years.
I'm not looking to buy another for the time being.
I've been thinking about getting a x52 pro, but at the moment, it's very low on the list.
I like the HOTAS form factor so the 16000 is out of the question for me ;)

Thanks for the advice; it will be good for someone who hasn't bought a stick.

I decided to look at what ships there are available to get, in case I want something more than my aurora MR down the line. Gosh these things are expensive. Thanks again Erocker for that giveaway.

If I do get another ship, I think I will try to find out how I want to play this game first. Do I really want to be a wannabee pirate, or worse...

Really, you don't have to spend another dime and just play the game, save your in game credits and eventually buy the ship you want. I'm done pledging for ships now, there's a few I really want but I figure it will be more fun earning them in game.

Oh, you could always eventually melt down your Aurora package for something else too.

+1 to that. I'm not spending any more cash on it, except for a 52pro, or a 65, if I can find one at a steal. I only spent on the Cutlass for the LTI. All the rest, I'll just earn in game :)

Yeah I'm in the same boat.

Got the 300i and the Cutlass, I don't need anything more. The only other thing I may consider is a separate account with an aurora and a cutlass just for pod killing duties.

The cutlass atm is ticking all the correct boxes for me. It should be a ship I can use to trade, kill and explore in. Perhaps not the best ship overall, It should be great with LTI and not having to worry about been spaced in it.

Ahhzz I've had the X52 and currently have the X65-f. Between the 2 the X65 is so much better. It's more responsive, Better built, Has more buttons, Easier mode switching. Added to that the stick is far better in terms of design. You can actually reach most of the buttons on the stick with the X65.

The only downside is the learning curve and setup. And perhaps the stiff throttle. You can work around the stiff throttle by splitting it and just using 1 of the axis till it loosens a little.

thanks, Ice. Guess I'll have to start clipping a lot of coupons :) I know the 65 really is a step up from the 52, I've just been waffling on whether or not it's worth it... *sigh* guess I'll take a weight and see if Elite is going to support the full range of options in the 65, and if so, time to cut corners :)

By the way, 'Rocker, mind adding the Cutlass to my list? Thanks :)

I've not even looked at the elite page since the kickstarter was up! I didn't end up back it in the end as I never played it in years past. I'll probably head over there today and have a look at the progress. Having never played one of those titles I have no Idea how the elite team will approach sticks and devices for the game.

Changed it for you. :)

I decided to melt down my Arbiter package and my Cutlass for now... Bought a Connie! I'm also next in line for a Starfarer... so, I'll be calling on some of you to be my escorts, I pay handsomely.

They added some functionality to the Connie too with the last patch along with other things... broke some things too. They did add some texture filtering improvements and the graphics seem nicer now.. I made some videos!

Oh $41+..... I know this is going to completely blow my budget out of the water....:banghead:

just saw this, not sure how long it was up there, but that kinda disappoints me... I sort of assumed that sort of mechanic would be in the game already...

$21,000,000
Salvage Mechanic: Salvage isn’t an aside: it’s a career, with its own mechanic, story tie-ins and universe-shaping endgames. Search the galaxy for a host of valuable and interesting secrets using both the flight and FPS components. Discover the secrets of the ancient Hadesians, locate valuable components and cargo… or go down in history the first to make contact an entirely new alien race!

Altho, I guess they're saying it is already in there, just will focus more on it as a full blown occupation... Kinda what I wanted my Freelancer for :)

Things like mining and salvaging abandoned/broken ships were already in, this is just a large expansion on that.

I made my own little hangar in Crytek editor and put the assets of the Aurora LN legionnaire in it armed to the teeth. I did use the hardpoints available though :)

this looks interesting, how much does it cost to start? And do you really have to pay $$ for ships? or can you also use in game currency?
Also how do you think my rig would do? and 0.5mbps/0.256mbps d/u internet. ping 50ms

And if you start now do you get to keep your ships and money when game is full release? this seems a lot like pCars.

I believe 35 bucks will get you the game. That includes alpha/beta access and an Aurora ship.

You don't have to pay a dime for ships, they're all available with in game currency.

Your internet kinda stinks. :(

Everything you pledge for (ships) you get in game.

Check out the links I posted in the OP. :toast:

I made an island hangar, messing around with the CryEngine editor:

Ok, I'm checking out there main page. trying to watch video to see if I would like it. It looks really good so far.

1. How much time have you spent playing?
2. How big is the game to download?
I'm hoping to get new internet, I live out in the middle of nowhere, but there is a chance that a fiber optic company maybe going down our road if they can get 60% of the people to join they said they are getting close. It's $1,500 total for installing and trenching to the home(would have to go over 1mile just to get to me!) and $100 a month for 50down/25up.

EDIT:
Looks like I would need to run 720p Med.

Also this what you get for $40
3.. My question is what this 3 months insurance?
4. how much in game money does it cost to get ships and how long to make that $$?
5. From the sounds of it it's very mod friendly? I like to mod.
I know I'm asking a lot of questions but when I'm thinking of investing in a Alpha game I want to make sure it's not go to someday hit the bucket.
I used to play Microsoft Flight sim and the Hawk games and BF2142.

Only thing that is released in the game right now is the Hangar Module. There isn't really any kind of playing anything yet. In late December there will be the dogfighting module so everyone can blow up one another. I believe the Hangar Module is around 3gb.

Insurance will cover your ship in its basic form if you happen to get it blown up. The cost of insurance won't be too much, you will easily be able to afford it with the in game money you have earned. I and some other folks here are "Original Backers" and any ship/pledge we buy until November 26th comes with lifetime ship insurance. So, if you wanted someone here could buy and gift it to you so you have the same. But really, insurance isn't anything to worry about.

The actual beta (complete game) won't be until 2015 sometime.

Really, unless you just want to back the game and see it made, there's really no incentive to buy the game now unless you want to be a part of the process of module releases.

Also, when the final game is released, it's going to take the best hardware available to run this game at high settings. Currently in the hangar module, the graphics look excellent even at low settings.

Holy crap, I've been reading a lot of info from the wiki and stuff and this game looks like it's up my ally. And I think I'm in love with the Orgin 300 Series. Thats a good looking ship.

To bad the 3GB will take me for ever to DL...

Also I plan on going all out next year on a computer for when pCars comes out I'm a Pre Alpha tester on that.

Yeah, this is literally my dream game. Wing Commander, Privateer, Freelancer all rolled into one hopefully awesome game.

I really like the 300 series as well. I would up with the 315p, due to it's larger engine for long distance travel. I have a Hornet if I feel like blowing people up lol. I also have a Freelancer for playing with a friend and a Constellation for a group of people. Needless to say... I'm done backing this game. Enough money spent for me.

It's crazy though, there's some folks who have dumped tens of thousands of dollars into this. I suppose though, if you're rich and you're big into a game like this it may be worth it.

I think i will be melting my Hornet package and *upgrading* to a Constellation very soon...

Seems absurd though, the amount of money that can be put into this, but I believe this is truly one of the few games I have been waiting for, for quite some time.

I still want an M50 really really really bad! I hope they do another sale that includes it.

On topic: I think if you really desire to support the development process and want some ships with Lifetime insurance then you should find a pledge that suits you and go for it!

If you are not quite sure what the game is about and don't feel like "risking" the money, then wait until it comes out and play the damn thing and earn all of the things you want through the game itself. From what I understand its quite doable. There's noone/nothing forcing you to pledge now.

Any suggestions for a new pilot?
Also I have a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro

EDIT: Also if you where to buy say 5,000UEC for $5 would that $5 go towards the funding also? instead of the "Shut up and take my money" option thats also $5?

I've spent a little bit of time going though the "lore" or whatever it is that tells the backstory for the universe and a couple of short stories that are on the site. If you really want to get immersed in the universe as a pilot I recommend reading as much of the fiction on the site that you can.

I'll be completing the Squadron 42 campaign before I jump into the persistent universe just because I adore the military campaign/mission set (ala. Freespace) that it provides.

On the subject of joysticks, I'll be hunting around for a used X-65 for a decent price over the next year before the game comes out, just because it looks sweet..
