I've spent a little bit of time going though the "lore" or whatever it is that tells the backstory for the universe and a couple of short stories that are on the site. If you really want to get immersed in the universe as a pilot I recommend reading as much of the fiction on the site that you can.
I'll be completing the Squadron 42 campaign before I jump into the persistent universe just because I adore the military campaign/mission set (ala. Freespace) that it provides.
On the subject of joysticks, I'll be hunting around for a used X-65 for a decent price over the next year before the game comes out, just because it looks sweet..

Also just noticed it said Min video card is 5850? does that mean I can't play with 4850 x2? because they are DX 10.1, even though they have almost same performance.
