I ordered the rear admiral package, did anyone else get something similar? I was thinking of getting another smaller vehicle for dog fighting...

I have the Rear Admiral package. Good choice, the Connie is a damn nice ship.
You still have time to select a dogfighting ship, and the DFM will help you on that one(everybody eligible for the DFM who doesn't have one of the supported ships will be given access to ships, but you can only use them in the DFM). If you want one right now, an Aurora LN, a Hornet, or a 325a are good choices.

I didn't ask him for that so I'm not sure. Which reminds me, I really don't like how it requires login ID to be separate from Community Moniker/Handle. I can see why they did it but still.

Awesome to see so many people indeed!

I changed my handle to "Mathragh" btw, and upgraded my Aurora MR to an LX (was nice to see that even for the small-budget peoples theres something to upgrade =D)

Also bought another Aurora game package for my brother whose birthday is due soon. I was a bit worried that the alpha spots would run out before it was his birthday, but now I should be able to just gift this even after the spots run out for people new to the game(or atleast I hope it works that way :D)

Btw, does anyone have any nice links regarding the planned economy and such apart from their official front page posts?

Yes that alpha access on the package should transfer fine (even if they run out of slots). For the economy here is the official low-down: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/engineering/13128-The-Star-Citizen-Economy

Oh, you've been in for a while already :)

**Soooo.. I'm hoping the organization system gets an update soon. We're supposed to be getting our own private forum on the site along with things like announcements and things like that. Also, they're adding more structure to the system so we can get nice and organized with people filling specific roles (if you want to) and stuff like that.

I'd like to get all of us together at some point in the future and try to decide what we want to do together as an organization, future goals and just get input from everyone. The chat system is already setup so this can be done.. but I'd like to wait and see with it being so early yet.

Dogfighting is coming soon and I hope (even if we suck) that there will be leaderboards for individuals and organizations. If we do well, we may get more people interested in joining the org. That being said, when we all get together and chat, I'd like to bring up possibly adding a member cap to the org, so things don't get too out of hand (see: organizational espionage) and/or disorganized. Either way, there's still a bunch of things to flesh-out from the developers before we start making any kind of real decisions on anything.

Also, I think I'm going to pick up the latest Track IR. :)

I think it would be reasonable to say some people might change what roles they want to do when they get into the actual game. Something might grab them from the side and distract them for an eternity when they find its a thing to do in the game.
Pretty much happened to me in WoW, sure there are dungeons and raids and PvP, but I discovered you could own a farm and you could set up your own noodle shop. So I became the best damned farm owner on the server (title and all) and got every cooking related achievement available, and then wandered around in dungeons selling people treasure noodle soup. People thought that was awesome. I don't expect there to be noodles in SC, but I think there might be some pretty interesting roles to take on when the game launches.

I just want to pewpew some crackerjacks in the dogfighting module right now!

Anyone going to the pre-pax party that you had to RSVP for? I'll be going and looking to meet up with fellow TPU'rs!

As far as what I'd like? Close knit group of gamers that are just hardcore enough to kill things with keeping the terrible "guild" BS out of the way.

I just found this quite old article. Most of it is probably already known to you guys, but didn't see it posted here and thought it was quite a good read with most of the info still relevant.

A couple of things really sparked my interests, especially regarding the UI. In that article Chris Roberts states that it will eventually become possible to even use multiple monitors for the game, and move around whatever part of your UI, even to other monitors.
I'm not sure whether he means that you essentially, when using something like eyefinity, can drag stuff around to other monitors that way, or whether it'll be more like the way supreme commander does it; let the game assign your 2nd monitor to peripheral duties(like showing the map in Supreme commander II). I hope that its the latter, as that would give you even more flexibility and customization options, but I suppose we won't have to wait that long to find out anyway!

Thnx for answering my questions regarding the pledge and economy btw.

Graphics looked great - shame that the multiplayer wasn't working for the show and that a number of people in the crowd just wouldn't shut up. Chris said they were looking at a public release around end of April beginning of May which seems about right with the bugs they seemed to be getting tonight.

Ships confirmed to be playable in DFM v1:

- aurora
- 300i
- hornet

No variants of those ships so just the base models - variants and more ships will be added as time goes on (scythe was mentioned to be very close as a playable ship for those who have access to one). If you don't have a playable ship they'll loan you one that is playable.

Felt sorry for Chris and the team - they've obviously been crunching hard to get it all ready and some last minute issues managed to prevent the main showcase (namely the multiplayer fight). Oh well looking forward to later in the month - maybe they'll release some videos of multiplayer actually working before the public release.

I predicated that... If I know one thing about SC they will always have bugs when trying to demo stuff live... Can't wait to see the video anyway, I passed out on my way home from work...

I was a little disappointed, I would have loved to see things go smoother or at all with the multi-player demo(as far is instilling confidence in I will see what I paid for), but it's all good. Everything really looks awesome, really want to see the multi-player side of it in action. Can't wait!
