Loved the Freelancer commercial - really impressed with just how gimballed those side guns are. Also the voice for the commercial - none other than Lance Henriksen aka Bishop in Aliens aka Admiral Hackett in Mass Effect 3. Awesome and I really hope this means he'll be doing some voice work for the game.

The trailer is awesome, but I feel like when the cutlasses open comms with the freelancer they should have said "Freelancer Alpha one dash one, this is ...... Mind if I take a peek in your cargo hold?" as a nod to the skyrim-like NPC chatter in the original game

Hey guys, quick question, I downloaded the game to my Xfire 290X rig and it's artifacting badly, to the point of being unplayable, bright color polygons start showing out of nowhere as soon as fire the game.

I know my 290Xs are fine, I play any other game like watch_dogs and wolfenstein without any issues, and don't OC them at all. Using cat. 14.6 here

Anyone else here playing on Xfire?

Known issue/bug. No crossfire support at the moment,. Break back to a single, and you'll be fine, esp on a 290x.

So out of my 4 ships only the vanilla Aurora is flyable and it handles like a school bus driving through molasses

I'm a little disappoint, but shouldn't complain considering our investment has granted us access to a very stable "pre-alpha", looking forward to more updates

Since you have a 325A you should also have a white 300i in your hangar that is flyable as well - depending on what your other ships are you should have a hornet as well?

its a known issue with SLi/CFX disable it for now

Yeah I loved that about Freelancer. All of the ships identified themselves, said where they were going and what they were carrying. It really made the universe feel alive even when just going from point A to point B. You could look around and fine the two ships that were conversing. They'd also talk about random stuff some times. It was especially ominous when someone else directed that conversation at you when approaching a blockaded jumpgate. I remember the Rhineland space flying undercover and feeling the tension over whether or not they'll figure it out.

It was even scarier when you had obtained 500 artifacts in your hold after finding a rare wreckage and you constantly got scanned for contraband

Well I tried it. First time, it closed itself after giving "Connection Error - Connection Failed." Then I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do so I did "return to hangar" from the main menu. That looked like some progress but then I pushed the *use* key on the controller and it appears to have locked up. I'm also not hearing anything. I'm too tried to try a third time.

My computer memory usage is hovering just under 5 GiB. CPU usage has been 22%-43%.

Oh, the launcher also says "please wait" frequently and never gets off it.

I think you need a minimum 8gb for the hanger. I peaked at 5gb on the dot in my hanger, but in arena commander I was using ~1.45gb.

whenever it stays on "please wait", jsut close the launcher and reopen it.
it is a known issue.

Since you have a 325A you should also have a white 300i in your hangar that is flyable as well - depending on what your other ships are you should have a hornet as well?

I see the 300i but can't find a way to enter it, its like the doors won't activate when I approach it, I'll give it another shot, thanks for the tip

Official requirements aside, I'm able to play just fine with 6 GB of main system memory. The game can be very greedy for video memory though, especially with resolution and quality levels turned up. Nice to see that it will use what's available though, while not being too much of a hog for main memory!

The 300i is so much better than the Aurora! Man I'm thinking of getting the hornet now, if only there was a sale of some kind! LMAO!

I couldn't believe how terrible the Aurora was until I jumped on the 300i deal. Not just the general performance of the ship, but the cockpit view was a complete and utter deal breaker for me.

I hear you! The turn rate is atrocious and it accelerates as fast as a fully loaded 18 wheeler, the 300i is just so much better!

When in a Hornet I need to get a good few hits with all my guns to take a Scythe down (say 10-15 seconds of good hits), whereas in the 300i 2 solid shots with my wing guns and the Vanduul's gone (which is possible in <5 seconds). Saying that - the Hornet can take more of a beating, and has more armour around the powerplant so it gets sniped less frequently.. I suppose it all comes down to my flying style and practise too.

I did notice 3-4 direct hits with my twin Omnisky VI's would instantly destroy my target on the 300i. To me that was godlike in comparison to the 10 minute firing period on the Aurora

Awesome! I wanted to try the Hornet in the squad 42 campaign before committing to put money down on one, your input has validated my decision, thank you so much for your comments!

the 300i shouldn't be better lol.
If the hornet is meant as the superiority fighter, it would have to deal significantly more damage than it is now.
All the ships fly too slowly.

I've stopped using boost until the devs fix the bug where it slows you down when the boost runs out instead of letting you keep the velocity you built up. That slowing down makes you a nice juicy target for the scythes and a hazard to any wingmen you flew ahead of...

what they need to do is remove parts of the ifcs thingy.

I am sure all ships will be rebalanced 99 times before release. No point fretting over the better ship at this point.
