Hey guys ! Very happy to have made the jump over to the Green Team. I'm incredibly impressed with my GTX 970 Galaxy reference card. In the next 3 weeks i'll add another for SLI .

Just installed the GTX 970 with the Kraken G10 on it. I've the Galaxy reference version. Because the pcb is so short the fan on the Kraken bracket turns out to be a ram cooler on my motherboard rather than the VRAMs on the GPU pcb :D. The stock and very large VRAMs heat sink could stay on for this reason.

When aligning the pins on the backplate I used points 'C' (they are marked on the underside of the backplate). On the last pic you can see the stock VRAMS heatsink has been left on the card due to the layout and small size of the pcb after the bracket has been mounted.

I also had to loosen the the pin closest to the pcie cables so I could actually click and fix these into place. Once these were fixed in place I just hand tightened the pin again. I had also removed some of the padding (1-2mm) on the underside of the back plate. I believe that without having done this it would have made plugging in the pcie cables very difficult. This will differ from card to card though.

I'm using a Corsair H55 AIO mounted on the bracket and boy does this card run icy ! 1 hour of BF4 multiplayer and temps hovering around 47c-50c with the card @ 1500 MHz core and 1950 MHz memory !

What an incredible card this is ! Can't wait to SLI these babies !

I've taken the cooler off my blower style card if anyone is interested to see the internals because as far I've seen there's no pictures any where to be found.

The actual heat sink itself is tiny!!

Thermal paste was also on stupidly thick and has now been replaced with Notua NHT :D

The pictures can be found here

Sup droopyRO ? Hey man . My card's ASIC reads 81.6% . It's been a real treat so far coming over to the green team !

I'm going to flash a modified bios with higher voltage limits when I can get nvflash to work !
Are you thinking of getting a Kraken G10 bracket ? I remember you said they are hard to get in your country.

Nope i went for a Gainward Phantom 970, it is quiet and with boost it reaches 1392 Mhz with no overclock, the temps are a bit high 80º C but at the moment i will stay with aircooling.

Stick with MSI cards, Great cooling & very overclockable. Asus Strix is pretty good too but people have a love hate relationship with Asus CC

The Giga 970 has best cooling, best parts, best performance, best support.

I see lots of people claiming the MSI has best cooling, but in tests it loads at 68c, and the Giga at 60c, and I've seen this verified by people whom have bough them.

The Giga has a full alu backplate and shroud, and a triple fan oversize HS. It's frickin 12.3" long. It should be obvious which would cool better.

True, my MSI loads at around that temps but not all cases can fit that gargantuan thing. To reduce temps it's as simple as making custom fan profile. With 70% fan speed load temps reduce from 68C to 56C and it's inaudible.

I would recommend the MSI GTX 970 Gaming card. I've got one on back order. They are out of stock at Amazon and Newegg. They may be in stock elsewhere though. Demand for the 970 is very high right now because they are such a good deal for the money.

Decided to re-apply the thermal paste of my cards for shits and giggles on both my MSI cards. Id say i knocked about 5-10'c off because 10 runs of MetroLL benchmark with everything maxed and the highest temp was 65'c where as its normally 70-75'c.

I had a choice of some Arctic MX-4 or some Prolimatech PK-3, Ive ALWAYS used MX-4 so decided to give the PK-3 ago & results were more then satisfactory.

Techpower Up! GPU-Z has the build in option to save it to your drive or the online database.
It is the tiny icon on the right side, besides the BIOS version number. :)
