It plays amazingly well on my 770, and with the most recent update I am able to play at low/medium settings at 1600x900 on my Dell 3540's 8850M, an overall smooth experience too...this was recently not do-able before. I'm sure you'll be able to do 1080 with medium or low/medium settings James.

Still frustrated that the customizing of controls is screwed up...kinda disappointing. The game plays quite well with Mouse + KB... but when I have my damn flight stick and EvoMerc and Elite: Dangerous are setup one way and SC pre-defines some back-ass-words controls in comparison it's annoying when all I can successfully change still is the axis definitions without conflicts. Maybe I'm missing it, but can you delete button assignment entries for a joystick in SC custom controls? Trying to change my hat switch to be used for strafing boosters rather than targeting...I need to give myself more movement capabilities with my Aurora MR. :D

No way to delete yet (is in the works along with the response curves for axis input). You can set some obscure buttons that you never hit to free up your HAT (that's what I do). The change for y axis to yaw by default made things easier for me as I have roll set to pedals and strafe on my second HAT switch - the other defaults are all working well now.

Well I may just manually edit the file or use one of the editors released by fans... just annoying honestly....and instead of wasting time on it I find myself playing the other sims I have. I want to play SC more so eventually I'll get over it and just configure it how I want. :D

Someday I may get a HOTAS...when I have $$ again. I honestly can't fault my Logi Extreme 3d Pro tho...has been great in all my sims. would be nice to have a seperate throttle and extra buttons/HAT switches at times.

I remember I was not happy with the performance I had with my 7970 but this was awhile back. A 770 is a bit more powerful than my 7970, but not by much with the overclock I had. I had a similar setup to erockers. A 750ti is about half as powerful as a 7970 so we will see. I will be sure to let you guys know.

Keep us posted. Like I said the most recent release plays nicer. Not nearly as nice as Elite Dangerous, but still nicer than the last several patches. Being able to play it on my laptop above 720p is a testament that they've made some positive changes for sure.

Those 750's sip power and can be OC'd somewhat decently...but I bet you'll do medium - low/med @ 1080 as I said before. But I could be way off target too. I'm curious.

It wouldn't need it, if they didn't allow people to use a mouse in the game. ;)

See, why cant they just make mice work like a joystick? No mouse-aim, you use the mouse to point your ship. If you want aim, get a track ir or oculus like any other peripheral user would need.

This is what I think.
They already use virtual joystick for the mouse. Same input as a joystick so naturally balanced.
The problem is gimbaled weapons. I think they should take away gimbaled weapons for pilots and to use gimbaled weapons you need a gunner or a computer for the hornet.

It wouldn't need it, if they didn't allow people to use a mouse in the game. ;)
Same thing could say if they didn't allow joysticks.

Why would there be a mouse in any soft of "flight sim" outside of selecting things on the interface?

yes, that's my take on it too.

Lots of things happening today!

Fly any of the 300 series this week

Firstly the 300 series of ships (300i, 315p, 325a, 350r) are all available for every backer to fly from now for the next 7 days. This is to let the devs check their balance pass and to highlight any bugs not yet found with them. These ships were built with the new variant system code which will be used on all ship variants so they want to make sure it's all working before releasing all the aurora variants as flyable next month.

Anniversary sale

It's that time of year again - the anniversary sale is back with the following ships for the next 7 days - these do not come with lifetime insurance but get a special 2 years' insurance as opposed to the normal 6 months:

  • Aurora LX - $30 (this is a better armed aurora with a jump drive as stock)
  • 350R - $125 (this is a racing ship and is used by the UEE in covert ops in deep space)
  • Anvil F7C-M super hornet - $165 (this is a hornet with an extra seat, a larger power system capacity and the ball turret and nose turrets as standard)
  • Freelancer MIS - $165 (this is the missile boat ship with TONS of missiles and a cargo hold modified to carry more. Because firing over 100 missiles between landings is fun)
  • M50 - $100 (this is a very small racing ship - it's size helps in combat as you can barely hit the damned thing and it's great fun to race as it's so maneuverable)
  • Cutlass blue - $150 (this is a bounty hunter/police ship with 2 seats and a turret. Full of holding cells for all the crims slaves you catch)
  • Gladiator bomber - $165 (this is a 2 seater dive bomber - very similar to the snowspeeders in Star Wars V with a rear facing gunner position behind the pilot)
  • Retaliator bomber - $275 (long range bomber and general death bringer. Loads of turrets and space for big torpedos used in the extraction of Idris and Javelin captain tears - a highly valued resource)
  • Khartu-al - $150 (alien ship covered in engines - very agile as it can change direction almost instantly. Designed as scout/combat ship capable of racing)
  • Caterpillar - $245 (totally "not for piracy" boarding craft with an asymmetrical design. Has big doors at the front for boarding ships when you smash into them head first)
  • Banu merchantman - $250 (very large alien cargo ship. Has a few decks and a room designed to be a shop so people can board and buy things from you in space)
  • Starfarer - $195 (fuel tanker - able to collect, transport and sell fuel to ships. Very large ship for the 2 man crew)
But wait - there's more!

The javelin destroyer is going on sale in limited quantities - 200 of these retaliator targets will be going on sale on 28th November at $2,500 each for an unarmed version (you can add guns if you want in game). I don't expect anyone here to buy one, so this isn't the important news - these ships are not being sold to fund the game as all of the money they raise will be used to pay for a discount on 5,000 Aurora game packages - if you know someone who hasn't funded the game as it's a bit pricey or could use a nice Christmas gift you can grab a full game package for $20 when the Javelins go on sale (as long as you're quick enough to grab one of the 5,000 discounted packages).

Final ship concept sale

The carrack explorer ship is going on sale a week today (28th) at $345 - its had a size bump from 4 to 6 crew and now has a small ship bay and a bay for a buggy. At 4 decks high and 110m in length it's a pretty nice sounding exploration ship.

As always all ships in the sale will be earnable in game with in game credits.

The sale info page is here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14314-Star-Citizen-Anniversary-Sale

I emailed them to see if they can add the R&Y hangar to previous purchasers of the Gladiator.

Only thing I'm considering is trading my Freelancer MIS for a Super Hornet... The Gladiator is cool but not enough ship for the money.

Agreed on the Gladiator. When it comes to MIS vs super hornet the way I look at it is that a super hornet on its own will be fine in combat. I doesn't have the biggest range but it's well armed for the size of ship and is a capable dogfighter against other dogfighters. The MIS is more of a fleet ship - I would hate to go it alone in one in a dogfight vs some smaller fighters but if I'm with a few buddies in their fighters I can hang back and spray missiles into the fight from afar.

Well in my defense when I bought it, there weren't all these ship options...................
Mine did cost less than what is up there now. I thought about melting it for a Taurus, we'll see. We still have a ways to go before release; plenty of time to melt stuff.

Blasphemy!!! Absolutely NOT trading in my Freelancer heheh :) Only thing I'm really drooling over is that Banu.... I really enjoy the trading game, but going to have to make do for a while with my 'Lancer. I wonder aloud here about the mustang... It's obviously a racer, but I didn't expect it to be completely cargo-space free. I wonder if they'll give it like one small cargo spot to allow for illicit trades like a single parcel of illegal drugs or something...

Only the Mustang Omega lacks storage - there are quite a few mustang variants in the works some of which have cargo space. The reason the omega doesn't have any is because they took out the space for cargo and put in another engine.

Only the Mustang Omega lacks storage - there are quite a few mustang variants in the works some of which have cargo space. The reason the omega doesn't have any is because they took out the space for cargo and put in another engine.
Which is what I have heheh (@erocker hasn't added it to my listing yet up front). I like having an additional ship in my hangar (especially since it was basically free, as long as you ignore the sunk cost of the Vapor-X :ohwell:) , but I don't really see the benefit unless I can carry SOMEthing in it... I don't expect a lot of courier runs without some parcel of some sort....

I am trying to download the latest patch and I am getting "unable to load metafile." I can't seem to resolve it.

What is this business with xplor. I was invited apparently and also got a message that they are really bad.

Looking at the timing, it was sent in august. I just apparently haven't logged in in quite awhile then.

At 1080p my 750ti was able to hold 30fps minimum with a guesstimated average of 40fps.

Metafile issue can be a PITA sometimes. Here's the steps to fix it (it will force you to have to download the patch files again):
1. Navigate to the StarCitizen installation folder
2. In the top right search bar of the window type *.version.
3. Select every .version file that is shown and delete.
4. Navigate to the StarCitizen\Launcher\LauncherData folder
5. Delete any files that end with .patchmanifest

That was at low setting. The game was on high by default and that was unplayable.
