OFFICIAL Cooperative PC games thread v 2.0

As per the title, please list whatever cooperative titles you can think of. This is obviously for PC only, though I would ask that you clarify the following :

• Title
• Supported amount players
• Supported services (Steam, Tunngle, Hamachi, Gamespy)
• Windows version known to work on(e.g. if it was originally a DOS game, or Win95, is there a GoG copy?)
• The specific type of connection method it supports, TCP/IP, LAN, IPX, etc. If multiple modes are offered i.e. Local LAN And 'online' LAN then make a note of that.
• A brief comment about the game play and particularly about the cooperative game play. It's helpful to know if it differs from the single player experience (as in it has no campaign mode, rather a series of 'maps' or mini missions)

I started making a bookmarks folder for any cooperative games I could find, though it's getting too long now.
I don't know what happened to our old Cooperative thread, maybe we can populate a new one.

Left 4 Dead.

One of the best co-op games in my opinion.

Obviously it's supported through Steam, it has a campaign mode and an 8 vs. 8 "versus" mode where you take turns in between rounds playing as survivors or the infected.

Portal 2 and Interstellar Marines. If I could get a buddy for the BF3 coop missions even then that's fun.

Torchlight 2 ( upto 3 at least cooperatively, i believe 4 is max ), Torchlight 1 is a singleplayer game.

Naty Zombie Army 1&2, up to 4 player coop, fantastic fun on a lan! Steam based, same as single player but much more fun with coop

heroes of might and magic 3. you can be allies with pc, another player or human only. can play on one pc (hot seat mode) or online. you can play on game ranger or using Hamachi.

edit: better to use heroes3 HD mod. it gives options to properly select teams. and other good stuff.

What about Warframe?

Title : Warframe
Players: up to 4 on reg. maps and helluvamore on relay maps(but very buggy)
Platform: PC (Steam), PS4, XBOX One

Came back to the game about 2 weeks ago. Lots of new stuff has been added since last year and it is still free to play.
Graphics is awesome, but progression is really slow and hard, considering you don't have 3 friends to play with you (near impossible to play solo).

That's not how i got it from the first post. I mean he asks about LAN, hamachi, steam etc. How I understand coop is working together with players against AI / completing the story-line. Examples i can think of being Left 4 Dead, Borderlands, Serious Sam, Chicken Invaders etc.

Me too. My definition of co-op is 2-4 players joined together either thru some agent like steam or locally, with a game that allows that, working together against the AI.

Coop means that a group of people can play cooperative with each other local or not. If you want to get picky you have Local Coop which steam now uses due to people getting misled by company's trying to make their games sound better than they are.

If you have a football game and you cannot play on the same team that is not coop as for it to be cooperative you need to be able to play on the same team\side.

So if you cannot play on the same side it would be TvT or even Local TvT.

So it sounds like you'd like to know online vs lan?

While a lot of games (that i/we have played) no longer have a dedicated lan option, many have private online options which can be used online or lan, so not just anyone can join your game, only the 4 or so people you want.

Yes, and your example is just a further feature to consider - public vs private. Remember TCP/IP games that could be published or kept private? - I suspect some still exist but it's a dying art.
