Anybody has tried Grey Goo? I don't like the futuristic/alien setting but maybe the gameplay is good.

Been looking at it briefly. It looks OK, although I can't make comments, as I've only seen gameplay vids. It has potential, but from what I can tell it's hinting on the side of hollow. Might poke around with it at some point for fun.

It's hard to talk about early RTS without bringing up Total Annihilation. I'm not sure that any title had such a grand impact. Sure, C&C was very fun and popular, but TA showed what was possible and what the future held. It still plays well to this day.

Ah man i still play it every now and then. Loved that game and unfortunately neither SP nor FA managed to hook me as much as TA. I have all the expansions, and played so much skirmish and lan back in the day. I am also surprised how many people don't know about it and swear about Starcraft, AoE, C&C or Warcraft as the best RTS

FA is awesome, when you have the time to play it and still want flat maps. PA is for a sizeable scope with quick playtimes and action. Sure PA games can take a while, but my average games are 15-30 min, which is a fraction of my average FA game.

PA has a pretty fun concept imho, if you don't go into it expecting it to be Supreme Commander or Total Annihilation for 2015...but take it for the lighter-hearted, action RTS with a multi-planet scope that it is.

The problem is, that is what they promised during the kickstarter. but even then i wasn't convinced and I am glad i didnt pre order it. Maybe i will buy it if I see it on sale some day

I don't remember what they did/didn't promise, and have 0 regrets. But then again I also liked SupCom2 and appreciated being able to have a version of SupCom that could run on all my PC's that was faster paced.

I honestly didn't think PA would ever have the depth that SC did, I mean the art design, how much they joked around, random plans, announcing no mega units, heck iirc. Honestly, if you can't get beyond SupCom2 not being a true successor to SupCom1 and PA being a true successor to TA, then ya...steer clear of both games, just know you're missing out on good fun!

It was just on sale for $5.99 a couple of weekends ago, so you'll totally be able to grab it around that price at some point.

I haven't tried Grey Goo yet, but supposedly some of the Westwood devs from the original C&C were a part of this title. It's a tad pricey and I'm too broke to invest atm. Hoping some of my fellow TPU-ers can give me some feedback on that title!

I am sooooo hyped for Homeworld Remastered! I can't believe there's not more buzz on here about it! Where's all the RTS fans at?! Oh well, I know I'll be enjoying it soon!

In other good news, Planetary Annihilation has been going through a lot of updates lately with a lot of balance changes and now some new units. This game keeps getting more and more polish, and getting better. I've loved it since alpha though so I'm biased!

Hey all! We've been working hard to get a full balance pass in place over January. You'll notice there have been a huge amount of changes based on feedback we've received from our players and replays. We've also added in 3 entirely new units to the game, including 2 new submarines and a T2 fighter that can travel between planets!

I've mentioned it, and am looking forward to playing it. I really want to give this remastered version a go!

Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of a Geat (pre-Vikings) campaign in Total War: Attila, which will be taking my time for awhile I think.

Not sure I can review a game that has already existed for such a long time especially if I moan about something and the fan brigade trampled me! That said, I never played homeworld when I was younger. Will take a look next month

lol that's the whole point of Act of Aggression. Old RTS with modern engine/skin.

A welcome addition to RTS I think, since most has gone the way of 'realistic strategy' such as Men of War, become MOBA, or follow the path of dodo (CnC series, Warcraft).

I am tempted to bite on the Act of Aggression beta...but funds are tight and I'm not quite sold. One thing that bugs me is that it seems they have limited the zoom-out to much less than that of the Wargame series.

I'm also tempted to get Grey Goo after the updates and reviews I've read...it's nice to see some of the old C&C devs creating something new and unique...I just wish that game was closer to $30 rather than $50.

In other news, that I posted in another RTS thread here, Planetary Annihilation is still receiving great updates...most recently Asteroids and Titans!!!

Anyone here doing beta for Ashes of the Singularity? I have high hopes that the devs (Oxide) with the support of Stardock can accomplish great things with this title...the world needs a multithreaded DX11/12 semi-SupCom for the 201x decade! I'm hoping when beta drops on the 20th, they release a lot more than they have between December 2014 and now...

There's some other RTS titles I'm keeping an eye on or really like the concepts. For now I'll stick with PA, SupCom 1 and 2, C&C Tiberian Sun and 3, and Star Ruler 2.

PA: Titans is awesome! It's got the polish, units, and capabilities that I hoped PA would have a year ago. Nice work UberEnt! I was an original backer so I got Titans for free. But I do know that many are update at the price-point.

Don't be too upset...as often as the original PA was on sale for $6-10, I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities to snag PA: Titans cheap as well. This doesn't mean the original PA is bad by any means, as it isn't imho...but Titans is just more stuff in all the right places.

If you were waiting to see if PA is worth getting, Titans is what you were waiting for.

It's standalone. If you already own PA, then it's like $12 or 13. If you're an original kickstart backer, it's free. If you don't own the game, I believe it's $40.
