Somehow I am using 4.5 gb out of 6gb. I'm not really sure how that is even possible as crossfire should give me 4gb max.

Shared RAM with the system. Mine is at 4gb even though I only have 2gb.

I take it you havent played modded out Skyrim.

My GTX970 is playing this game smooth as butter. I haven't cranked up AA or some of the other filters, but I will tonight.

No I don't have Skyrim. But yeah what I have read about it on this forum, it eats a lot of vram.
GTA IV only uses about 1400mb on my laptop.

This game needs 4gb for the textures. I can run everything maxed out I believe except for the textures.

SweetFX sounds like crap breakfast with cereals for bowel movements, sorry, could not resist! haha
Years ago I decided to stop tweaking and actually listen to music without tweaks, watch video without tweaks and play games without tweaks.

Use FXAA and not the other AA. I'm running max settings and Im under 4gb.

Oh, in the advanced graphics, I have things set to "On" but with the sliders I have them set about halfway. Also, as someone mentioned above, things seem to look much better with PostFX set lower. High and lower will turn off DoF.. which is good. Way less blur.

So not interested in tweaking this one.

Then you miss the "cinematics". LoL. Funny to see an AMD user tell an Nvidia user what settings to tweak. Not that it's a bad thing. Might be interesting to see the differences in memory usage in the different GPU designs, but I doubt it's that significant.

Erocker is running a 970 now. Anyway my game run solid at 60 FPS also. I'm just trying to bump the textures some.

Everyone is going to have different levels of what's "acceptable". I'm a fan of clicking "optimize", and then forgetting about it. I have the FPS counter in ShadowPlay enabled, otherwise I wouldn't know.

I also use the geforce experience one-click method, I get mostly 60fps as well, except in the mountains with a lot of foliage it can drop to 30fps from time to time.
I'm quite happy with it till sofar.

I totally agree. Normally it works awesome. I just saw the high rez. textures and fell in love.......might have to invest in a couple of 4gb cards lol.

That's a really big overage. Is it not tanking your framerate?
