OFFICIAL GTA V (Discussion)

Is anyone else having connection issues today? The game won't load at all, and there was an error about Rockstar's cloud server being unavailable.

Update
It looks like R* social club was crashing forcing several reboots. I don't know why, but it's working again for now...

The game was loading for me, just took a bit longer with social club

Can someone explain how do you use/enable parachutes ?

So I am not really experiencing any major performance hiccups, however I do get the occasional fps stutter when traveling and loading in massive news amounts of data.

I am using 10 gigs of RAM while playing and my pagefile is 13gigs.... Does this seem right? I thought it was supposed to max out the RAM first, or at least come close.

I have my OS installed on my 250G Samsung 840 EVO SSD, and GTA 5 installed on my 1TB HDD.

Been reading around and seeing there is some sort of pagefile issue causing stuttering...

Well I found out that my stuttering/framedrops was caused by fraps, I have GTA V installed on my 500GB 840 evo.
My pagefile is 2.4GB and swapfile 16GB and I have 16GB of ram.
I have no more stutters, all smooth now.

Interesting.... I'll need to check out what my actual Swapfile size is, didn't even look into that. Just saw my page file reading on MSI afterburner @ 13 gigs which seems way to high.... but then again its GTA 5...

Ill have to look into it more after work.

I had to bump my page file to 12GB to cover what Windows paged out to make room for GTA5, and since its on the SSD it helped a lot with texture loads and such.

lol, this is madness. I have a default 1920mb page file and 8gb ram. I have no stutters at all with a pentium G3258 running it off a slow HDD. This game is causing some weird issues for some people I must say, and yet others like myself have had no issues whatsoever. I wonder what the root of the issue is?

I checked my files while running the game, the pagefile stayed at 2.4GB and the swapfile stayed at 16GB, the ram usage was 54% from my 16GB.

I may be wrong here. I understand that Windows 7 and older don't have a swap file only a pagefile.

Just a suggestion if you want to add an interesting bit of side mission challenge to the campaign. I was playing as Trevor and did the side mission with the crazy mountain bike chick Mary Ann. Afterward I rode the bike to the next side mission I saw, Josh the real estate guy. I took a direct route, riding over mountains and back roads.

Then I decided to stay on the bike to do Josh's mission. Most of the houses he sends you to are in the mountainous area of Vinewood Hills, so if you try to take as direct a route as possible from one house to the next, you can get in some good minor mountain and urban trials riding, bunny hopping the bike here and there to get over obstacles.

At times I was pretty surprised at what you can do with the mt bike, and there are some stunt jumps here and there to add to the thrills. I also made a few jumps of my own just from natural features, like dirt slopes near pool decks. Sometimes it's amusing to see the reactions of the rich people freak out as you come flying into their backyard pool area.

In case some of you didn't know, you can bunny hop the mt bike by hitting space, then adjust fore and aft lean with L Shift or L Ctrl. Trevor can pretty much sprint non stop on the mt bike once you build his stamina a bit. Ironically it seems you have to prep Franklin for it more than he. Last time I tried Risk Assessment as Franklin he kept getting exhausted.

I'm surprised how well my 570 handles this game. Im currenty running 1080p resolution 30 to 40 fps with all settings on high and water very high except grass which i have to keep at normal otherwise I get horrible frame drops and stuttering on certain parts of the game.

Very impressed with the games optimization I just wish I could figure out to get it from crashing on my system which happens every now and then.

What's that? What does that ghetto english mean?

I'm loving this game almost. What with the nightmare of having the dvd version that worked for a couple of days. Then would not boot up, had to go on rockstar forums and find a fix. had to check all the big files and 1 had a error. re download it then all ok. "nightmare" Only thing that drives me nuts is i play the game at 60fps then just goes to 30fps then back up to 60fps at random? dont get it:eek:

Ok I'm not sure about that, I'm using Windows 8.1

I had the same problem, in the nvidia control panel you can set the vsync to adaptive, or set a fixed fps with nvidia inspector or RTSS, and don't use fraps!!
I have my frame rate fixed to 41fps now, no more sudden framedrops.

Edit: I see you have a GTX780, it should run it on 60fps, strange that you have these framedrops, unless you have all settings on very high/ ultra

I get the same fps on lots of settings 60.1 then just drops to 30 fps

Now thats the way to do it :D:nutkick:

When you first enter game, alt-tab out and then back in. Should have a smoother session all round then :)

I reinstalled Windows and now I can't get the game to work. The stupid installer apparently has no functionality to recognize existing files, and when I downloaded the Social club program and started it, it downloaded a patch and then said the game was not installed and to piss off.
Help! What do I do?
