SLI with different cards

Thanks for the reply. There's equal space in the case between the cards. My main card is fine, fan barely speeds up, while card two screams almost instantly. I feel like if it were a heat issue it would be a gradual climb, no?

Try HWInfo64 portable and have it startup and run through gaming session sensors only. Whats the max temp on both cards after load and fan rpm and clocks etc vddc voltage etc... Could be the 12v rail on the psu isn't holding true... Space pcie power over 4-pin molex and all available dedicated pcie power cable unused to space out the power if psu has more than 1 rail...

You wrong. When a game starts on SLI heat up quickly buld up and GPU and VRM temps go up really fast so...you must manage your case ventilation and check Gpus thermal grease and clean up heatsinks.

Yeah exactly.. cards with standard blowers can sort of hold true with 3-way sli rolling but like the 2x 90mm fan coolers they just suck the heat off the gpu in front of it...

Recently I had a GTX 460 2Win, R7 370 4gb, and R9 380X in my rig for Compute... Total of 62 GPU Compute cores and temps went sky high all gpu cores were 95C ... so way too hot and I smelt burning...

Alrighty, thanks guys. Could also just be the cards. They're Quadro 4000 workstation cards that technically only support multi-OS SLI, not frame rendering.

Monitor your temps on the cards and check your 12v level while under load...

Recently I witnessed this on gtx 970 with fx-9590, and 650w corsair psu... Shut down under load... After I modded the psu fan to 12v since corsair wants it to come on and off it was a flawed design.

Had to run cpu at stock speeds and turn on all max power savings like C1E among others and it fixed the issue.

HI guys, just in case somebody stumble upon this post, DifferentSliAuto 1.4 work fine for me, there's a video guide at the end of page 69, the vid is in non-english language but a kind fella has provided a English subtitles. I built my pc recently back in Feb using single Gigabyte 970 and upgraded it just 2 days ago with another Zotac 970. Im using Windows 10. Before using DiffSliAuto, you cant imagine my frustration, searching and googling 12 hours straight to find ways to fix my 970s sli problem (sli bridge not detected, maximum 3d performance option greyed-out). FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS AS IN THE VIDEO AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE, and make sure your gpus are compatible to use the software( read the descriptions provided by the author)

My system; i5-6600k, mobo z170-a asus, gigabyte 970, zotac 970, psu coolermaster 750v

Single gpu Feb 2016 till 21 May
Sli 970 21 May-now

Hello all,

Different SLI is working for me driver-wise, however when I run any game the gpu fan of my second card goes ballistic and eventually my pc will reboot itself. Has anyone else experienced this?

I did some experiments and found somethig weird. If unplug SLI bridges, SLI still works but temps get very high. I dont know why maybe without SLI bridges GPUs are overloaded and that causes that excessive heat??

Both pair of them don't have SLI connectors so data between GPUs have to be transmitted via PCI Express link.

I tested on GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 (SLI supported 8x+8x) and GA-Z77-D3H (non-SLI mainboard with PCIe 4x slot via DMI 2.0 bus)

Even though nVidia Control Panel allows me to SLI on both mainboards, problems happened with GTX 750 TI and GA-Z77-D3H (non-SLI): Bandwidth of DMI link is too low for SLI+Graphics data of GTX750ti and caused botleneck.

SLI GTX 750 Ti on GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 without any problem, PCIe 8x 3.0 speed is far enough for SLI.

And SLI GT 730 on GA-Z77-D3H was successful, but I think it nearly reached the limit of DMI 2.0 bus.

So it's normal use that utilization is low... Tested 365.19 on win10 64 but now testing 363.30 first rev win10 driver to see if it helps... Some say 350.12 is the best for CS : GO...

I think you have seen severe microstuttering with this game. Maybe instead the game has a SLI profile that is not well optimized for MultiGPU and second GPU is only introducing lag. I dont know if this could work but have you tried to change SLI rendering mode from Nvidia Control Panel? Try Alternare Frame Rendering 2...hope you can solve this issue.

Yeah I tried Alternate Frame Rendering 1 & 2 which are worse than Nvidia Recommended... AF 1 & 2 see constant 50% hella low fps when smoke... Nvidia Recommended gives 300fps in smoke 100-150fps other times. I just want 100% on both for 250fps always

Haven't tested 363.30 but may try 350.12 win8.1 driver... Otherwise I got a 480 to replace the 2Win for CS : GO.. I'm sure it's the drvier or something? IDK ..

Game hits the Xeons like on #1 50%.. #2 15% so unusual cpu utilization but the game loves fast cpu's and these old Xeon's do some damage as they are very powerful for this game.. seem to outrun my X5650 x2 setup..

By the way, thanks for all the hard work on this Ember. My buddy sold me a 780, and suffice it to say, I was shocked I couldn't automatically SLI it with my 780 Ti.
This has been a blast to play with. Without it, I would have had to install this card in my wife's computer! (Or my son's!)

new here, thanks for the DifferentSLIAuto programm, works just fine for me (Win 10, 64bit, crossfire MB, 2x gtx 680)

I had it running for quite a bit now and decided to update my grafics driver (for dark souls 3) since I had no troubles whatsoever on another system (win 7 64bit, crossfire MB, 2x gtx 580). I was woundering why i had troubles on the first mentioned system why it wont work. i tried every guide there was in this very forum and had no success whatsoever. then i remembered: I, Mr.Idiot, overclocked my monitor (from 60hz to 80hz at 1440p) and didn't realized it was messing with the grafics driver. so got that figured out. ran a system recovery, applied the new grafics driver, installed DifferentSLIAuto1.4 (had one minor incidence but i fixed it) and now everything is right with the world again.

TL;DR: If you messed w/ monitor OC you are screwed. (create a system recovery point b4 u OC any shit)

Same for me though I am using dif sli with 3 GTX 760N Hawks cause of my mobo, on windows 8. Hyper sli does not work for them anymore.

I really like gt730, with 384 cuda cores they are pretty powerful.
What gain did you noticed?
I am really curious as I wonder if the 64bit memory bus of gt730 could affect SLI.
