GTX 1080 or 1070 fan Poll

Well I may look like an ass after saying what I did above but I kept looking at the performance gains of the GTX 1070 Vs my ref. card GTX 980 and then the gains with the GTX 1080 FE and in the end had a change of heart. Newegg took my money and I'm driving over to their will-call in a little bit to pick up my EVGA GTX 1080 FE.

The price is crazy tbh but just like all my past GTX cards I prefer the ref. design so I knew I had to have a founders edition. So there goes $762.99 out of my checking account. Oh and I have absolutely no patience. Once I have something in mind I just have to have it. It's a failing for sure but a fun one.

I'd like to add that I sell on ebay a lot and had around $650 sitting in my paypal account from this last weeks software sales. Then my Wife donated $100 to it for Fathers Day and I only had to spend around $13 or so out of my checking. So not really a hurt to the wallet this time.

Let me know how she goes (1080) over your GTX 980 as I'm in the same boat.

LE for MSI simply means its at standard speeds, not pre-overclocked. I've already been playing with it, and I'm super pleased.! Oh, and ASIC is 82%!! Overclocking should be good!

i feel the same way about buying my gtx 980 the performance boost over my 280X for $275 was amazing

Same here bud. I'm just going to get the RX480 when it comes out just so I can keep sane at max settings

Then I'm fairly sure that after Pascal/Polaris, the next-gen of cards will run 4K nicely. THAT will be my "balls to the wall, spend $400-$500" purchase

I am totally impressed with my GTX 1080. It is a big step up from my 980. I'm seeing double the performance and more. I was tempted to grab the 1070 but I'm glad I spent the extra money.

I seriously doubt it. If they follow previous length of time, then we are looking at December or January. And that's IF AMD provides a need for such a powerful card.

Sorta off topic here, but I am happy with my Titan X purchase as well (what makes it slightly on topic is I only bought it because the price floor on them fell into a crater when the 1080 launched. I paid $450).

3dmark scores for me after OCing a healthy amount. Claims I am close to a Haswell system with dual 980s at stock! Wonder how a 1070 FE card on a comparable skylake or even Haswell system compares?

If it seems low, it might get better with a new driver?

Edit: if I had a 8 thread or 12 thread CPU the score would be probably higher.
