How long did you take to finish the game and both addons ? i try to visit all the "?" signs.

Has anyone else noticed that Snow Hares usually can't be killed? Every once in a while I can kill one, but they never leave any meat. You think this is a technical glitch, or are they just trying to further juice this Easter egg by making them look invincible and mysterious?

Never did try to kill them, i hate rabbit meat. But i would not dare do it without a Holy Grenade.

I try to go everywhere, including where there are no markers, because there you frequently find hidden stuff. It's well over 150 hours for me.

I would like to ask you about location in W3 - White Orchard village.

First of all, here is my PC specs:

i5-2500k (Tried to OC @4.5 GHz - no difference in FPS)
GTX 970
8GB RAM
W7 x64

The problem is FPS drops and stuttering in White Orchard village.

Settings I use in W3:
All Uber except:

1. Hariworks OFF
2. Shadows HIGH
3. NPC density HIGH
4. Foliage distance HIGH

When I enter to White Orchard, I get FPS drops and stuttering. From 60 to 40-45.

In other locations there's not such problems.

When I set everything at max, the FPS is lower, ofcourse, but more stable, without fluctuations.

Is there something wrong with this location or it is my PC fault?

Shadow to medium or low, foliage to low or medium use SSAO instead of HBAO. You can turn hiarworks on with low and AA set to zero.

Reinstalled the OS and updated ALL drivers to its' latest versions - problem is still there.

Might be because of 8GB RAM you have, did you check your RAM usage during the game ? i get >7GB on mine with Firefox opened in background.

Yes, I checked it - ~5 GB while W3 is opened.

I just located your problem. You are trying to play with listed system at Uber, with only a few settings lower. TW3 is very intense game for cpu and for gpu.

You need the next setting down, and put shadows at Medium, and lower number of NPC's one level as a start.

BTW. I installed the game from 6 DVDs (I have BOX edition) and version is 1.30. But when I add the game to GOG account it's trying to update to 1.31 version. But this update is so heavy! 1.4 GB + 3.9 GB. I think it is too much for small patch from 1.30 to 1.31.

Few people have the same update size.
Maybe some files are corrupted?

V-Sync ON? If yes, then try to turn V-Sync OFF, set the FPS limiter to unlimited, then turn V-Sync ON via driver (NVIDIA control panel).

I think the 3.9 GB is 1.31 patch and the 1.4 GB is GOG's extra content (map, early concept art, OST, comics/graphic novel, etc.)

And maybe because you "transferred" your game from physical copy to GOG then they need to download extra files to add or patch something in your game installation.

Hmmmm, yes you are right, that should not be happening.

I'm running 372.70 driver. Newest one.

With Vsync OFF and frame limiter set to unlimited, there is more FPS but drops... still there.

I sent support request to CDPR and GOG. maybe this is known issue with this version...

Well I decided to pick up on my 2nd play through of this masterpiece of a game.

Seems to be even better this time through, and very excited to play both expansions.

This game continues to leave me in awe with the crazy amounts of minor details.... A Netflix show you create is the best way I can think of it

Are you going to start the game from the beginning? I see that we have the same GPU, and as you see above, I have problem with FPS drops in White Orchard village. Could you check the performance there?

I have the digital copy on steam.

I am already a decent way into my 2nd play through (Doing New Game +). Nearly ready to head to Skellige once I knockout the rest of my witcher contracts.

I could probably go back to White Orchard and do some quick testing if ya want. However its going to be a little hard to compare results.... Im running on High Settings overall, with only Textures set to Ultra, on the latest released Nvidia driver. (no hairworks)

While we are running the same Video card, we have different generation i5's, and you have 8Gigs of ram compared to my 16Gigs.

I would be willing to do some quick testing for you if can provide some more specifics to your issue:

What Nvidia driver are you using?

What do you mean FPS Drops in White Orchard Village ? That is kinda abstract.

What sort of FPS drops, is it sudden hitches where your FPS just drops and goes back up? or it is constant low FPS?
Low FPS in an area is to vague to go off of.

One thing that comes to mind, is if your running terrain detail / terrain distance on Ultra that should be lowered, or hairworks (obviously)

I haven't really experienced any FPS issues, 90% of the time I am sitting at a steady 60FPS that never moves.

I guess its worth noting that I seem to notice smoother transitioning in the game when its installed on an SSD compared to an HDD. Probably not a huge difference, but noticeable nonetheless.

Ill go run around the village in White Orchard later when I am playing and let you know what I see.

I know it might be obvious, but have you tried reinstalling the game ?

You said the boxed version. I know unless you stop it, the box version installs Galaxy auromatically. I'm assuming that's how you know you are just lacking that one large patch?

I fully recommend installing without Galaxy. If at all possible, you should download all the game files manually. your library in GOG automatically gives you a digital copy of the game if you bought boxed. I always run all my games without galaxy on amGOG.

Yes, it installs Galaxy automatically, but it won't start to update until I log in to my account

First time I logged in and added GOG code to my account and here it started to update.

Currently, I play without Galaxy at all - I start the game from .EXE. Game is not updated to 1.31 (1.4GB+3.9GB) because I'm not logged into my account
