Thanks. Scores are pretty good for such old hardware. Sure the two GPUs helps alot in some of the benchmark two. Ass a little bonus here is some scores with my old I7 920 at 4.4 GHz in most of the benchmarks but still with the two GTX 970.
So the higher scores above compared to those i post here is mostly thanks to the new CPU alone. But the I7 920 also dit a good job, but not as good as the I7 980X.

Great scores are pretty even. But what really cuts my eye is the vcore reading in cpu-z. Does that xeon really only need around 1.32 vcore at 4.5GHz?

I have read about that Xeon are know for there oc capability and that they at times needs less voltage. But this is a huge difference compare to my cpu that needs 1.4375 volts for 4.5 Ghz stable.

That is a great voltage for that kind of clocks. So you can run 4.5 GHz with safe voltage. Dam nice. It also explanes why you are so dedicated to Xeon CPU´s.

But that Quad-core Xeon it is clealy to se the consequence by run it with only dual channel memory + low clocks and high timings. Your cpu score is lower even throw its higher clokket than my 920. Getting better memory and go to triple channel will help you getting a better performing and responsive pc. Just a little hint.

I had it in a 2P server then ran R15 with ASUS ROG ii. It ended up with a friend of mine in a MSI Pro e board with a R9 380 GPU. He has 12gb XMS3 in triple channel

Ah great to here that CPU runs with proper memory now, so it can show its true potential. I assume he is happy with it, else you cut sell him your 6 core xeon

I've wanted a x58 6c/12t rig for so long, that when I saw a x58 ITX mainboard for sale with a 970 and 8 gb of ram for $135, I just had to jump on it.

It's now in my HTPC and I have to say, it's quite impressive. Though the total power draw for the system is insane. Well over 500w for a single GPU solution!

I've been using it a fair bit for work. I was running quite an intensive algorithm on an old ass i3 2100 and it would take 2-3 hrs to complete each time. Now I can just RDP into my HTPC and they get completed in 1/4 of the time.

I'd love to get an X5650 and overclock past the measly 3.6 Ghz I have now, but I am unsure if the motherboard would support the chip and good air-cooling solutions just don't fit in my case

They only reply that they cannot say it will work.

I'd assume that they'd be supported through a microcode injection, but i'm not 100% or the difference between bloomfield, gulftown and westmere.

The overclocking features on the board are a little limited, but those are the compromises made for the form factor. I also can't figure out why, but the CPU doesn't boost at all.

I probably wouldn't use a radiator. My current HSF keeps the CPU ~75 C at load.

Shuttle stupidly use the s478 mounting hole placement, which means there are zero options for aftermarket coolers. I've currently got the bracket for my HSF ghetto zip-tied down with the heatsink clipped on. It gives enough pressure to cool properly, but I don't think i'd get the same pressure when using a water block.
