While I enjoy the game, I am still finding it challenging to get into any particular grind...even combat anymore. Would be nice to get some things hashed out a little bit more, improve some aspects...maybe they can return to the CQC (or whatever it's called now) and make it something truly great, that had the potential to be its own successful game IMHO.

I still am hopping in here and there to make a few million credits as I slowly work my way up to my next goal...this week has been a bust. I need to go cause some trouble.

So, I got mad and rage quit and deleted my save. Story. Put about 15-16 mil in a federal assault ship. Sounds like a lot, but you know that much in higher tier ships will get you D and C class stuff. Thought I had a good fighter and I hear wars and civil wars are an easy way to make money. Mind you, I spent most of my money in the ship and didn't have insurance. I usually don't but was so confident, I didn't care. Got plowed. I had shield boosters, chaff, shield cells and missile counter measures but I swear sometimes you can stop your death. Got mad and quit. Restarted yesterday and I'm doing pretty good. I know a ton more now than I did when I started. I've played sporadically for years and the money I brought my FAS and the 15 mill to deck it is the most I've ever made. That's not much considering the time spent. I started before with a mission running space trucking mind set. With my X-52 now, I starting with combat. It's been lucrative. Used the loaned sidewinder to make 400,000 cr. Used that to deck an eagle. I use that in high extraction to bait ships and have the police jump on them and I finish. So far I make about 3 to 4 million an hour. In two weeks, including work, I'll have made more that way than I did in 3 years.

I just seen some vids from a cmdr named Cillit Bang and oh my goodness. If i ever run into him, i'm just gonna say kill me. Save me the embarrassment. This guy has a Viper beating top tier ships. Clippers, FDLs or whatever. I wanna be like him when I grow up.

What y'all using for controllers/interfaces for Elite?

I've got an XB1 and a Steam controller, but I'm thinking I might want to get a HOTAS set up at some point.

either XB1 or my Speedlink Airrow (rather the Airrow tho ... that stick is awesome for the price i paid for ... and a not bad at all VKB Gladiator/RavCore Javelin clone )

How does one get in the beta? And I'm at 33 million now, but I'm not gonna buy a Python or FDL. I've realized skill beats an expensive ship. I saw a FAS beat a full decked A Rated Corvette. Playing CQC made me realize I gotta up my skill. I'm gonna do that more.

Or so I hope... I've been getting a lot of emails from Frontier that are building hype and trying to lead up to this... time to get back in and start building up my funds and speccing my combat ships!!!

So, I'm guessing we'll have to use the engineers to make thargoid stuff or something along those lines if we want to fight them.

Not sure. Engineers are planet based and I doubt they'd exclude that many people from thargoid war.

I made the mistake of moving to colonia not knowing how underwhelming their module selection is or how overpriced their ships are. I don't know if i should try to make the most of it or head back to that bubble. Such a long trip. No telling how long before they get a rated modules and regular prices ships.

Anybody done anything interesting lately? I've finally afforded an anaconda and I'm in the process of engineering it. Nothing extreme. I'll possibly go g3 all around. I'm not a PvPer. The grind to fly the galaxy and search for rare materials is too much. I love engineering thou. G2 dirty drives makes the conda move so much better. Top level g3s should have it very nimble. I might go with some fixed hard points then.

I haven't played in a while, currently studying for the upcoming engineering licensure exams. I've heard about 2.4 and I've been reading about it and all exciting features points at it being a "Story Centric update" with the Thargoids, anyone know how exactly does this work? quests? campaign? or just a series of community events/goals? If it's the latter I hope not . I look forward to playing it but I might not be able to play it right after release, will I be missing out?

Before quitting the game I actually geared up 2 ships ready for battle, expecting the latest update to be about thargoids(called it)

Then after that Colonia trip I'll probably go back to the bubble and kit an Imperial Cutter(surprisingly I have built my rank up in the Empire doing just Quince runs lol) to replace my Python and get ready for 2.4, hopefully an update bringing thargoids and fighting them.
