Disclaimer things first: take this with a grain of salt, since this hasn't seen the amount of confirmations we'd like. 3D Center has come out with a table that supposedly demonstrates the schedule of RX Vega manufacturing and integration work from AMD's add-in-board partners (which includes the likes of Sapphire, XFX, PowerColor, and others.) Remember that manufacturers receive a suggested reference design from AMD as to how to incorporate their GPUs into an actually operable graphics card, with varying degrees of customization according to the particular partner we're talking about. And this process takes time.

According to the leaked schedule, the BOM (Bill Of Materials) for the required parts to properly manufacture an RX Vega graphics card was to be released sometime in June, with engineering validation tests going through the end of June towards the beginning of this month (July.) Actual working samples from AIB partners are scheduled to be available in the middle of this month, with product validation tests (PVT) stretching towards the beginning of August (you'll remember AMD has confirmed they'll be formally announcing the RX Vega graphics card(s) at SIGGRAPH 2017, which stretches through July 30th and August 3rd.)

However, it seems that AMD's BIOS is only scheduled to be sent to AIB partners on August 2nd, and AIB partners still have no word on launch dates from AMD, which would hamper their ability to move on to mass production of their designs. This may mean a paper launch from AMD, or perhaps a launch with only AMD reference designs being available for order. Remember that final BIOS is a particularly important part on partner's design customizations, since these usually include info on stock AMD-defined power and temperature limits, power states and fan curve, which partners leverage in building their customized cooling solutions.

September/October for the stock ones, November/December for AIBs. AMD is bungling the launch of vega hard so far.

I doubt it, this will ckear the last of their inventory and they can launch that Pascal refresh to wipe vega off the face of the earth with no leftovers on the market.

I seriously doubt they would do pascal refresh(pascal itself is more like maxwell refresh on the new node), that arch is done volta will be next.

Read through the news articles again it was already announced we would get a Pascal refresh over Volta for consumer cards.

I'll go ahead and order my 1080ti. Done with waiting for this imaginary card. Finally went Intel last year waiting for Ryzen to finally show up, and now I guess I'll jump to NV waiting for Vega to finally arrive. AMD has sullied the opinion of a lifelong customer on both fronts due to this debacle. (The stock is still keeping me happy though).

That's what I ended up doing. AMD's vaporware schedule gets old fast.

It's intriguing to see if they are able to work some serious magic and increase performance whilst getting power consumption in check on the gaming orientated Vega cards compared to Vega FE.

Maybe RX Vega is going to be a hell of a lot faster, but it's also going to be a AIO water cooled 3x8pin planet killer to get there.

Only thing that would save this launch is if AMD has managed to pull the wool over everyone's eyes and has managed a dual GPU sitting on Infinity Fabric signaling the end of the large die era...but that seems like a HUGE stretch.

It's almost laughable that I imagined this card coming in January 2017... I was waiting on to purchase, in the end I bought 2 x 1080Ti.

Performance depending I'll probably still get Vega, but won't there be a much more powerful competitor from Nvidia at that point??

So how long lived will this card actually be? Navi was supposed to come out sometime next year. Wouldn't they want to try and time it with an Nvidia release to try and compete. Not that I know much about the Volta release date rumors...

no Vega till september (or later) is a GOOD thing. hear me out - imagine how fast and for what prices miners would buy out the whole stock if they bought out all of rx 580 for 450$+ (and any rx 47/8 or 570 for a little lower price). as for now - ethereum got like -50% (from peak) less profitable (prices are going down and difficulty up) - but it still is very profitable (ethereum - I know that there is dozens of other coins to mine, or hype about - but those all crash down in 100% sync, because when ether will crush people will realize "hey - none of thease have any meaning and act 100% the same on any market fluctiation").
but I see that in 4 - 8 weeks ethereum wont be profitable to mine, bubble will burst and all those used RX 470 to RX 580, all gtx 1060 - 1070's will hit back on ebay for 1/5th of the price... and then my friends - then I wanna see Vega launch and more so I wanna see AMD to deliver a decent performance/price ratio or esle - noone buy shyte from them...

I agree with you - right now AMD delivered Vega Frontier - a gtx 1070 level performance for almost gtx titan xp price... and it is sold out... I do not want to see my Gaming Vega to "compete" with that

If you need a new graphics card, buy the one that suits you the best or when you find a great deal. By waiting for Vega, you're waiting for nothing. Right now, there are a few GTX1080 on newegg at a fair price.

When Vega will launch, you could wait for Volta, which will be round the corner, because it will bring prices down, and when Volta will be here, Navi will "launch soon". It's a never ending circle.
