Is it normal to have this fps when i am driving fast in GTA 5?
For the specs that i have i guessed i was going to get a more fps, like 70 at least.
Am i wrong or there´s something wrong?

settings? resolution?

i can get drops, and my PC is a pretty capable machine. i found that 4 cores with higher freq gave more FPS than more Cores at lower Freq. i.e my 4690k @ 4.7Ghz gave higher FPS than either my xeon 4c/8t, or my 4790 4c/8t.

if i were you id increase RAM to 16Gb's. also, use Single player to judge FPS, not Multiplayer....im not sure with GTAV, but multi can give less than accurate results due to latency, network reasons etc. afaik. also, i could be wrong, but @ 83C your GPU might be throttling a tad

The resolution is :2560x1080
The settings are all at max (ultra and very high) but no fxaa, msaa and anisotropic filtering
If it´s easyier i can send a print screen
I honestly dont know, i think it´s my cpu because of the number of cores at lower freq.

Im gonna make a guess that the CPU is more than capable. My guess is this.....that 40+ FPS "drop/low" in FPS is not indicative of the normal FPS performance while gaming?? meaning that 45fps is a Low in what is normally 60+ possibly even into the 70-80FPS? if this is the case, theres nothing to really worry about, as FPS drops can and will happen fro mtime to time, especially while fast movement is on screen ,or a large number of assets are on screen. i would only worry if it wasa constant sub 60 FPS Frame rate, and not while set to close to the highest settings.

remember its not only hardware of your system that can cause FPS perf drops, but also updates in game patches, or Drivers that arent as good as earlier ones. id personally run a drive fro nvidia that is fro maround when the 980ti was released, anything past that isnt likely going to have any + effect on Your GPU's perf, since they would have moved on to the newer models.

you could try running a system monitoring tool while gaming to see what if anything is maxing out during gameplay.....try GPUz. open the sensor tab, and leave it open while runnign 10-20 minutes of gaming then check out the readings
Come to think of it whatever you're running in the screenshot is probably going to provide just as much info As gpuz.

I was just looking at the screenshot in your original post and I noticed that your GPU utilization is 50%.I may have been correct when I guessed that your temperatures are causing throttling you may want to look into that you could use MS I afterburner to set a custom fan profile or just manually put it at like 70% fan speed

im guessing it must be the temp. im running a 970 reference design, and im getting NO lower than 70fps (@1200p)notice my CPU utilization is around 50%, but my GPU utilization is up near 90% & temps are under 70C (almost ultra settings minus AA & MsAA) My blower fan is cranked up to 70%+

Those 48fps only happen when i am driving fast (most of the time) but normaly it´s at 70fps just like you said.
Probably it´s not a driver update.
I use msi afterburner to see what´s happening during gameplay, should i try gpuz too?
I have tried to speed up the fans but i have a reference 980ti and at 70% is quite loud...

no need

i understand that part.....your Definitely getting throttled IMO. its either fan speeed increase, or you figure a way to drop Ambient Room/Case temp  sadly, I am fairly certain thats where your hitting the temp ceiling, and its dropping GPU utilzation down to 50%+ until your temp drops. just crank You GPU fans for a temporary test, and see if it stop the FPS drop, then you can either address the issue further, or rule that possibility out

Another possibility is you could try down clocking the 980ti, to see if you can limit the temperature by that approach method ..

Edit

I just noticed you have a reference design ,I have the Nvidia reference shroud & I find that it's best to have a positive pressure case and make sure to keep the heat sink inside that shroud really clean , combined with some good thermal paste my temperatures are always under control that way

You´r probably right, i have searched and i found this answer: Your factory preset temperature target is 84c (look for you Temp Limit in Afterburner). This is the temperature that your card attempts to seek out and maintain as part of its Turbo Boost algorithms.

Below that temperature your card will increase its Turbo Boost clocks for more performance. Above 84c your card will decrease its Turbo Boost clocks down to its default speed. This is normal and is not the same as throttling, which your card will do to prevent damage above 95c.

GTX 980 Ti's with the reference cooler will almost always run at exactly 84c, as designed. The main variable then will be the fan speeds and noise necessary to maintain that target temperature. With a custom Strix card, you should expect to run under 84c, but that would also be normal if playing demanding games in a warm room with less than ideal case ventilation.

Most attempts to try to force a lower tempature are only going to increase your fan speeds and noise. My recommendation is to leave everything on Auto, and try to improve your case ventilation. Otherwise, everything is running perfectly normal in terms of your fan speeds in relation to your temperatures.

Which is similar to what you have said.

I am going to test the card at 70% fan speed and see if the fps dont go that low

I have the p400 case, with 2x120mm in and 2x120mm out

EDIT: Here is the performance at 70% fan speed, still at 50% utilization tho...

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
It wont help much unless its REALLY dropping bins, like back to base clock. A couple of bins aren't going to translate into a large FPS difference. A few at best.

that kind of a drop is usually load related - new areas will create stutter in some games as the game tries to load it on the fly.

Try turning down some settings and turning down the draw distance.

Then no your doing ok at that fps at that res, considering your card Will be throttling imho.

Turn grass down especially and shadows off high res , that should help but the highest grass settings play havoc with fps smoothness even on my mates 1080ti and my vega ,its not brand specific.

what are thoise readings for though? i dont think thats 3d engine load, i think it might be memory or something.. look under settings/monitoring, and edit what is being monitored onscreen in afterburner, it might help

Afterburner by default will display a whole bunch of ridiculous readings in OSD monitoring....for example, every core's load and temp on screen is just silly for most people, so i set it to only show the important things.you may find it helps you when dealing with issues like this

gpu load
gpu temp
cpu load
cpu temp
maybe GPU vRAM?

Grass quality and post process if I am not mistaken absolutely destroy performance on the highest settings regardless of what hardware is used.

Also note that GTA 5 doesn't run that great even on Ryzen , this game really favors Intel CPUs.

i agree about the settings you listed, they do murder perf when maxed out. I also feel Your right about the intel thing, because i have a 20%-30% weaker GPU than @OP. but my FPS (even when pursued by police @ high speeds) remain higher, or same , but never drop as low as he posted (slightly larger resolution he has) doesnt make THAT much of a difference, so im guessing it might be the newer Ryzen based PC....in time it will likely be ironed out hopefully.

Driving Fast usually makes the game Load more stuff and sometimes the I/O cannot catch up to the Hardware so it could possibly the reason for the FPS drops.

is GTA V installed on the SSD? if not try that. also, having 16GB RAM helps. if GTA V uses more than 8GB i think it uses pagefile and it will result in less performance

I have choosen to show all of that just te see if all cores are being used and the %/ram/pagefile/GPU usage/fan speed and VRAM it doesnt bothers me a lot because i only use msi afterburner when i am doing "tests"

I have heard that before, that intel CPU run a lot better. I think that i can sai that a friend of mine with an i7 4790k, gtx 970 and 16gb of ram has more fps than i have on gta 5 (he runs at 1080p tho)

That´s exactly what i think, it´s a bit wierd for me to think that a 970 can have more or about the same fps than a 980ti in gta 5 but the problem is probably on the cpu, because the game is not optimized for that amout of cores, i realy hope it geats an update for ryzen systems otherwise i have to turn some settings down.

On the image that i posted the ram is around 7-7,8gb and the pagefile is around 12 and 13gb

Sound like your ram is maxed out as well... 8gb isnt enough on some titlez these days.

how about the SSD then, is GTA V installed on the HDD or SSD? try installing it to the other drive.

Turn off everything under advanced, those settings are performance killers. My bet is that you are running low on RAM, as I have no stuttering issues with a lower tier GPU, but more RAM.

The resolution is :2560x1080
The settings are all at max (ultra and very high) but no fxaa, msaa and anisotropic filtering
If it´s easyier i can send a print screen
I honestly dont know, i think it´s my cpu because of the number of cores at lower freq.

Anisotropic filtering is cheap, leave it on, the textures will look so much better!

The game is installed on the HDD because it uses to much space on my ssd, i only have a 240gb and right now it has 100gb free, the game is like 70 at least

I dont have any advanced graphics turned on, it´s all off
I might change that to 16x and turn the grass or something to high/very high instead of ultra

That will be a future upgrade, right now i dont want to spend that money, it´s my first build by the way

Looks like you are running out of ram bud... may be part of the issue...just bought it or not, its clear you are using it all which can cause hitching and performamce slow downs...

Guys throttling GPU or not, his GPU usage is at 50-60%. This 980ti could run at 1000mhz and still offer enough performance at 84 C to extract more FPS.

The GPU is not the problem here. Yes its a shitty reference blower that costs about 15-20% of its overall performance, but its not the bottleneck for this game or situation.

GTAV is a streamed game world, so when driving fast, you load new grids, textures and geometry at a very high pace, drawing heavily on CPU+RAM throughput. This also explains the high GPU temp and low usage; the moment you slow down or the geometry is loaded in, the card can peak to high FPS and puts out higher temps.

The biggest fix is draw distance and LOD tweaks, mostly the latter; also any options that reduce the clutter and amount of objects spawned (including people).

AA has no effect on CPU loads, its pure GPU and a big part of that is 'free' in terms of GPU load, or almost free.
