from my messing around with an HD7870 and flashing bios in DOS mode it was quite hard to brick it lol even when I flashed the incorrect bios (I tried an UEFI Bios just see what would happen lol) where the card wouldn't display, but I could still re-flash the bios as I had an i7 4770 cpu I just used its onboard gpu to get access to dos to reflash card back to a version I download from this site .
cant remember the brand atm but I did send in info to techpowerup to correct info on that card, info stated the card had 2 power inputs when the card only had 1 6pin power input.

sooo which one should i use?

Make sure you have backed up your original bios.

do you know if that card has a dual bios switch on it?

Try the last one that I provided

I believe it's the same bios that kastriot provided earlier.

personally I prefer the dos way always feels safer to me ...

another thing I done was change the factory stock OC back down to 1000Mhz the gpu was the 1ghz edtion, but from new with the factory BIOS settings the card would green screen if a game stressed it I put up with it for about 1 year lol hoping newer driver would resolve it but in the end I had to mod the bios settings to 1ghz then I never had an issue still have the card to this day in my daughters PC working fine, im sure it was because the factory OC was to much for 1x6 pin power, but I cant say for sure.

Those nitro+ rx 470 where very popular for mining. I used to have 5 of those but got rid of them. I would have helped you out since I didnt mod the bios but I dont have them anymore. I will ask the buyer of all 5 if he still has them.

It is easiest to flash through windows for most users because of the difficulty in command-line switches that are required to do a flash through command/dos prompt.

Grab this

https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/

Find bios you just downloaded and then Flash

I agree although I always worry some people may have software running in the back ground that may cause an issue or problem I don't know maybe some over clocking software could cause an issue I really wouldn't know, I just feel its better to read up on the switches to get an understanding on what config of switches is best to use and make sure the motherboard settings are at BIOS defaults ie no OC going on then in dos your fairly well covered your back, well that's how I feel about it lol

Hope the OP has good luck with his card getting back to normal would be grate to read everything is up and running correctly

i flashed it and then it wouldnt show anything on the display, had to use onboard gpu to boot
gpu-z is in the pic

Do i need to do this without drivers installed??? it just occured to me that i didnt remove them

I think that might cause a problem or antivirus and spyware programs just turn those off then run the programs

Yes go ahead and remove the drivers first using display driver uninstaller which is a free separate program if that fails you can always try the other two bios files I provided.

i have only dvi cable so i cant check that part :(

some Bios if not correct model or board config for display layout will work but can stop some of the display ports working
so you may find dvi not working but hdmi is or those type of issues, I know from messing around with old hardware

what might of happened is when the bios was first changed they may have wiped out the original device ID's or changed them not sure that's poss? would -f switch and different bios change ID's ?

removed the drivers, shut every program down, flashed all 3 bios, none of them are working :( gpu-z still showing 0 memory 0 clocks

let me just check with you if im doing everything right.
i download the bios, start atiflash as admin, load the image and hit program right? after that it says that i need to reboot so i hit yes and it reboots

just one thing idk if its relevant, every time i try to flash i get not responding bit in the picture for a few seconds and then the flashing is finished.

maybe taking heat sink off and looking at the gpu, memory chips and circuit board layout may give some helpful info ?

lol I would still try flashing them in dos and use the -f switch see if that helps

something along the lines of

atiflash -f -p 0 biosname.rom

do an atiflash -i 0
first to check if the gfx card is given port number 0 or 1

you need to make sure your telling atiflash to flash the correct card so im not sure what order the system will config the pcie ports it might be the onboard gpu is port 0 and the ati card is port 1 meaning you would have to change the atiflash command to

atiflash -f -p 1 biosname.rom

the -p 1 being the port the gfx card is setup by motherboard if it is indeed port 1

hope I haven't made sound to confusing lol

you can rename the bios file to brick.rom if you like heh

everything you need to know here for switch commands

looks like mining card with modified BIOS to me

Looks that way to me too with the mining BIOS.
MVPete, does the card have a dual BIOS switch?

To me it feels like your Card (rx 470 8gb card ) was Flashed to a RX 570 bios and then modded for mining
Flashing it Back to the Stock original bios is a good idea ( if you feel comfortable flashing Cards) and then installing latest drivers.
Any further problems we (TPU) can then explore further help.

Then you would be wrong, this is a custom bios made by mining bios eu which is just a modded bios or it could be a Nitro+ bios, so he will have to reflash the card with the correct bios with the correct memory chips or he will brick his card.

removed the drivers, shut every program down, flashed all 3 bios, none of them are working :( gpu-z still showing 0 memory 0 clocks

Gpu-z wont show the correct info until your cards drivers are installed so don't worry about that just yet, if your getting no video output then you have flashed the incorrect bios for your cards Memory vendor.

what does that mean? that i should sit and wait for eidairaman1 to find the right bios?
