NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super Appears in FFXV Benchmark Database

Results of NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 2080 Super graphics cards have been revealed in Final Fantasy XV benchmark database, where the card is compared against other offerings at 2560 x 1440 resolution using high quality settings. The card scored 8736 points, while its predecessor, RTX 2080, scored 8071 points at same resolution and settings. This shows around 8 % improvement in favor of newer model, which is to be expected given the increase in memory speed going from 14 Gbps to 15.5 Gbps and CUDA core count which increased from 2944 cores to 3072. With this improvement, RTX 2080 Super is now only 105 points (about one percent) behind TITAN V graphics card in FFXV benchmark. If you wish to compare results for yourself, you can do so here.

That's exactly why there's been 2 boooring years on GPU segment... Maybe a 3080 will shake things up a bit, maybe... (Because the 3080Ti is gonna cost ~1200€ again if not more, nothing close to ~800€ we paid for the 1080Ti)

That benchmark is basically for comparing nv cards only.

Even that is questionable. You can straight up manipulate the score lists on the result website and take 'legit' screens.

That doesn't say this one is fake, but, the benchmark has zero in terms of guarantees for authenticity. It also has a habit of wild score fluctuation on the same rig doing the same run. Runs are never identical.

Bottom line, they should kill this abomination yesterday

I'm running a 1080 Ti, so I'm not on the market for another 2 years, but I'm tied to nVidia due to my g-sync display and what I'm seeing worries me. nVidia's enthusiast chips are burdened with RT, which in my mind is akin to Hairworks - tech that's way too expensive and I don't see myself using in the next 5+ years - but I'm still expected to pay out of the nose for.

This is precisely what I've been saying to a lot of people pulling the Gsync trigger. You are at team green's mercy, in a way

Any kind of vendor lock-in should be readily avoided, be glad you learn this lesson now, maybe you can still sell the monitor?

Sadly the Red team doesn't look like its going to be offering anything in the high end that your in already so i think that alone is going to keep you with the greens.

Agh it was a sarcastic fan boy remark, i get it now, it always surprises me how people can become loyal to any corporate money making firm be it nvidia, AMD, Apple etc etc. Rather than just focusing on buying whatever offers the best performance to value.

Personaly im looking for a replacement for my GTX1080 had hopes for something from the Reds as im unwilling to pay the green tax anymore.

but if you were really searching for value you'd wait for the custom 5700xt really.Nothing is beating that in perf/dollar until rx6000 and rtx3000 arrives.

I think what I'm going to do is twofold - a) root for team red to keep applying pressure ever higher up the product segments to keep team green's prices in check (go, reds, go! ) and b) wait until the equivalent of 2080 Super appears a couple of generations from now. nVidia seem to do that sort of thing - make you feel like an idiot for being an early adopter some months after launch - pretty much as a tradition now.

well,in principle yes,in practice no.
outside great value mid-range cards amd has been offering same performance as nvidia a year before,and even then nvidia adjusted prices (e,g, 1070ti) to one up them.

their launch schedule is set up so that they sell as many as they possibly can,including new skus at new price points.
there's always something new coming.all that matters is value at the point when you buy it.
