NVCleanstall - Clean installer for NVIDIA drivers (Alpha)

I thought it stalled when it did unpacking/decompression
Yeah, right now there is no progress bar for it because I don't know how long unpacking takes (SSD vs HDD for example)

no, problems with 0.50 with 431.68 hotfix though I manually pointed to it.

@W1zzard : Is it policy to add Hotfix drivers for download? If so, would you please add the new release 431.68.

I have no plans to add them to the downloads, but you can download it yourself and then use the 3rd option "installer on disk" to install it

Good question, does anyone actually use them?
I'm using it because it updates less frequently.. and seems to be more stable? (or not). It doesn't matter if you don't have a plan to implement it, the 3rd option works fine for me.

BTW, I'm also interested that if the output folder (default %tmp%\NVCleanstall) will be user configurable. And depend on this function there should be other functions such as a check box to make sure setup start up after files are generated in output folder. And also a sub check box menu to make sure the NVCleanstall folder(or other) will be deleted automatically after driver installation is completed,

No need. It will start the installer from there. Once installed and you close its windows NVCleanstall will delete that folder automatically.
If you want to copy the folder somewhere else, just select the "open folder" option, copy it whereever you want, and then close nvcleanstall, which deletes the folder

435.80 works fine.

Yes, it's true. the version now works enough. Although these changes will make the program more automatically and user-friendly, but add new features will cost time and work. It WON'T matter if you don't want to make these changes, because this piece is already good enough.

And last, Thanks for your great work!

more automatically and user-friendly
I'm actually not sure if it's easier to just copy where you want (ctrl+c, ctrl+v), instead of having to go through the browse for directory dialog, and create new folder there

IMO Nvcleanstall is pretty user-friendly now, you have to look at userbase. This is not something most users would user, more power user and it gives you now 3 easy sources for installed driver and then allows making a slimmed package or installing (or both).
Sure you could have options for things like decompressed folder and location and even recompression of a slimmed driver but it's pretty easy to do these things as it is once you are there.

Fixed a server-side script bug that caused some devices to be "unknown, no driver", for example 2080 SUPER.

That's the way the official driver package works -- double click the '.exe' -> select a folder to extract files -> initiate setup automatically -> choose components(user configurable, but not that simplify as NVCleanstall) -> install start -> install finish.

Maybe I misunderstood you? You wanted a feature that lets you pick the folder where to prepare the installer, so you can copy and save it for manual install later?

Yes, that's the truth. It will be more convenient if the program prepare the installer in the folder where the user has selected (no need to open %TMP%\NVCleanstall and then copy it away for backup, the folder selected is for backup).

I'm also requesting for 2 additional check box features. for those who would like the driver installation start automatically and then delete the driver files.

1) allow driver installation starts automatically when the installer is prepared (like the official package) and then user doesn't need to open the folder and run "setup.exe"

2) delete the install files prepared by NVCleanstall after driver installation is complete (will based on above, if above is not checked, this will be disabled---grey and not clickable), so user will not need to close the program for removing the files. (sometimes you need to try more drivers since some have bugs)

Well, this is just like suggestion or feature request things. This piece is already works perfectly for me:toast:

Good question, does anyone actually use them?

I do, mainly for the sake of better stability (well, at least potentially).

But perhaps "Use driver files on disk" works just fine with the studio driver package as well? If so, that's good enough for me.

Many thanks for an excellent piece of software!

NVCleanstall is a little messy, maybe only NVClean instead

Anyone else having issues with the latest 436.02 installation?

Seems the NVIDIA Control Panel is not installed.

Are you installing the DCH driver? If yes, you need to get the control panel from Windows Store if I remember correctly

GreenCleanInstall (GCI) ....eco friendly name even .. :D

I had to laugh, in spite of the Official servers not offeringup the driver because of this Gamescon fuckup, (they pulled the driver for forcing GFE install, nice move Nvidia)
in spite of that your app is downloading the driver, with the choice of having or removing Gefore Experience. Bravo!

They really ought to be paying you at this stage,. Thanks

EDIT - well, after all setup.exe is missing from the folder. so close!

That doesn't sound right, AFAIK the driver is stored locally so should be good.
I installed fine this morning and I see the driver is still available.

Nvidia pulled driver because the no GFE was not working.

something odd here, i took what you said and re did the Cleaninstaller, and this time the 'setup.exe' ( plus 4 other root of the folder files) have downloaded.
This didnt happen the first time. the only difference i made, instead of "Opening the folder" i clicked "Install" at the end of the Cleanstall download bit.
its installing now - and the official Nvidia site? still
