so can I uninstall the affected update(s) and then install the new update?

Nope. Just download the media creation tool that was mentioned previously. https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209

how old is your usb installer? create a new one. latest windows 10 is 1903.

Well what media are you using to install now? I mean if you downloaded the Tool from Svan's link you can use it to update as well no need to create a USB or fresh install.View attachment 133973
Well not sure how you ended up with that file but it’s just a simple executable....You're making this much harder than it has to be...View attachment 133975

This shouldnt be rocket science.

Yes, Windows has moved on to a service release schedule. You could say Microsoft is following what Apple's has been doing for a long time with Mac OS 10, and Google's Android/Chrome OS.

Reading material if your interested.

Not if you‘d use the links and tools provided here. You would be updated to 1903 and just need the regular incremental updates that have always existed and come out every month. Your problem is your current version is depredated so it won’t update. Just run the update tool man,...it’s not complicated and would literally solve your issues and put you up to current version in one shot....

Seriously, we've told you how to fix it. Download the media creation tool and use it to update to the latest build. Problem solved. You don't even have to create a USB/DVD installer. You can literally install the 1903 update directly on the computer you are running the tool from without created any media. However, it might be wise to create a USB Flash drive if you plan to re-install often, so you aren't installing an outdated version with no update support.

Since, various forms of correct answers already exist and we are getting off topic talking about MS OS update policies (which linux and OSX have been doing for ages) I think it's time to close up shop.
