So what subject are you talking about exactly ?
I'm not sure I understand your question. It's meant in the context of reviews/content etc. Obviously before a launch there is an NDA that says I can not post benchmarks until time x

I haven't seen the original TPU post but from what I gather GN was never explicitly mentioned in the title or the post itself, there was just the screenshot used as an example and not a direct accusation.
correct

Quite the disproportional response from GN for a bloody screenshot to start threatening with lawyers and whatnot.
I think completely reasonable response, he didn't know the intentions behind the post, and people don't read text, they look at images.

People might be thinking NDAs are Advertising agreements now by the looks of things.

To be honest, I understand people mess up. It will blow over, but leaving this article even up does more damage than good. All of the big youtubers have all had to make videos explaining revenue sources, sponsorships, nda's, and the like due to these baseless accusations time and time again. I'd say unless you have irrefutable proof of this, best to not say anything at all. Even if deleting the article may cause another spike in outrage, in the long run it will help your credibility. In my opinion, this article should be deleted, but you should also not pretend like it didn't exist, you should post an apology article on your site explaining what you did and that after review you felt like the article was damaging to your reputation and standards and that's why you deleted it. I, for one, will have a hard time getting information from here without thinking about this article, and how it was left live.

I thought about this option, too, but feel it will just lead to more drama, about "censorship", "paid to remove", "<insert conspiracy theory>". And I'm sure everybody has their screenshots already and will just upload them everywhere.

I see your point. That's why I mentioned publishing an apology article, so that way your not pretending it didn't happen. In my opinion taking down bad information isn't the same as censoring.

Yup, no way to change that, I'm just sorry that our failure affected others too
This could have been easily avoided.
People don't go on tpu for clickbait news so why put so much at stake.
Imo searching for such unverified info does tpu more harm than good.

I read it, is this a joke ? your example paragraph reads like some tinfoil hat nonsense.
This coming from someone who has been an AMD and TPU fan long before youtube and Gamers Nexus even existed.

Not really, if you are aware that Nvidia this campaigning hard against Freesync/Freesync 2 branding by having monitor manufacturers remove such and replace it with G-Sync compatible and when not g-sync compatible state Adaptive-Sync instead of AMD branding. This isn't is farfetched at all, Nvidia is trying it's hardest to be the Intel of old.

I would suggest doing some investigating (contact YouTubers and ask them if they've ever been approached as alleged) first to see if the whistleblower's claim has merit then publish a follow-up. If the there is no merit, then yes, apologetic; if there is merit, get comment from NVIDIA on the record and publish the facts as they are known.

GN has already been apologized to and at this point, that's just a distraction; get to the heart of the matter which is influencing NVIDIA is allegedly doing.

This quote warrants a blank stare from me everytime I hear or see it. I would love nothing better for him to stand in front of a billboard with a blown up picture of a1660 and sales figures of all their cards sold in 2019.

TPU's content has taken a hard turn to the left. Anything that bashes a big company, no matter how baseless, is worth printing. This is the third recent article that is completely fake news. Fortunately, my bovine excrement alarm went off by the second sentence.

The reactions of Steve and Jay should tell us something. They know that their personal integrity is being called into question by this. Just wondering how soon Jay's video will hit????

@W1zzard if you really want to start undoing the dmg that has been caused, you need to remove bta from his position, promote someone else, and stop with the clickbait and heresy articles. And you should find better sponsorship than gray market key sellers. It makes TPU look bad.

Fix your site or you won't have much of one in a year.

Frankly if Nvidia wants to pay me money, I will build a wall of Nvidia boxes and make AMD pay for it!

Sorry. Too little, too late. You guys just lost 99.4% of your credibility and journalistic integrity.

You have been on here for six years and made three posts...
1 - TPU is not really a tech news site as much as it's a review and forum site. A lot of the "news" are simply press releases.
2 - Personally, I find TPU reviewers do a fantastic job and don't see how this changes 1% of their credibility much less 99.4%

Well has it been proven Nvidia are not doing this.

Everyone is getting butt hurt for Steve Burke , they should be butt hurt at the offence to their intelligence and wallet's.

Several pages all dancing over the fact Nvidia are behaving like assholes.

For several reasons ,

Freesync getting renamed gsync compatible somehow - Proven without doubt ,skull duggery occuring.

It's less than a year since Nvidia hardballed all AIBs into making only GAMER and not know brand top spec cards leading to no ROG AMD cards.

You have their telemetry bs.

Releasing half assed next gen and supers all over the show befuddling the market.

STEALING others work ie reshade to sell more cards.

Over hype in the extreme RTX.

Then just rehash others games to make a profit.

Security issues.

And strong arming reviews by Not providing cards to fair reviewer's.

Bta on the other hand made a simple misstake unintentionally, totally accepted it and apologiesed and it's him that's the issue.

Of course, and until recently, VW and a few other multinationals were telling the world the electric car had no future. Look where we are today... :p And what about GTX 16 series?

I mean, its not hard to find a CEO telling the world their way is the best way... right?

You're not wrong. The question however is if 'outrage' is the way to combat this. Awareness should help the public, we say... and yet, look at the current state of journalism - not even tech news but beyond that. DESPITE good journalism and DESPITE a track record of, often, decades, reputable news sources get slandered too and their fact checking is tossed aside, because people prefer soundbites instead. Its part of the reason we have some questionable governments of late, even.

The fact remains that until you have proof that its either true or proof that its not, you're pissing in the wind. And that's what this whistleblower, and this article, really is.

We've lived past GPP and now some random reddit post is going to change anything? What are people thinking? And thát is why I say change the agenda. Get some actual investigative journalism going and create a strongly supported and well documented article that's worth reading, because there's simply no denying facts.

If you cannot do that, its not journalism and its not press - its clickbait material. And that is what this article is in its core, and that is where this whole ordeal has been going wrong in the first place. TPU / bta got played by some troll on an attic. The fact that tech press is liable to just shamelessly copy some random blurb off the web and post it as truth, should be a big warning sign to tech press itself. Not even just btarunr.

The bottom line; are people really thát stupid? And I hate to say this, but we're all part of that idiocy even if we don't want to. We all benefit from strong journalism - press itself and its readers, and even the companies because it keeps them on track.

I get what you are saying but can't dissagree more on proof first.

If one man has an idea something is happening it can be incredibly hard to get proof without the right contacts , investigation and luck.

Even if it's a rumour, so long as it is not stated as a fact, it can inspire the truth to be sought by someone else, that would not have offered the proof without the nudge.

At the end of the day if a rumour is not true it will die on the vine, whereas the release of such rumours has often lead to the proof and end of bad practices.

See the English police for many an example of something leaking out changing the way police work is done.
