Guys, if you're ever wondering about amp capacity for a AC wire, check the local building codes.

Our cabling is flexible, as a feature, which adds a few amps to the ratings.

This is for copper, aluminum has a different set of problems.

BTW, over 15A IEC plugs have a different configuration, that won't plug into the standard ones.

Our common plugs are 13A rated (C13), as per the 13A rating on the cord shown.

And if you look on the cable itself, you'll see a temperature rating, along with cable thickness and all sorts

I'll try and find a cable that I use tonight when I'm home from work

From some of the cables I've got, there are also different rated fuses in the plugs, some I've seen as low as 3 amps, but then some plugs use a 13 amp fuse as well. I think the majority of fuses I've seen are 5 amps..

Was curious so I checked my psu 3ft cable and only data is printed on the cable itself. Also my surge protector has these specs - Electrical Rating: 15A, 120 VAC, 60Hz, 1800 Watts, ups just list NEMA 5-15P which is 15amp 125v, ups has a slightly thinner cable than the others so I'm guessing it's 18gauge.

I never really thought about this topic, as cables are all rated rather high here on the 230V outlets. My monitor-cable has 10A / 250V = 2500W rating. On the PSU side and all the extension cables and power-strips are rated to the point of the circuit breaker tripping before anything can happen. It is usually 16A / 230V = 3680W.

As for the internal wires from PSU to components I leave it to reviews telling me a PSU is good or not.

If it it'sa trusted brand it be a none issue, how ever you do decide to get a better one check the pins 1st as there is a lot of Chinese crap going around switching the Neutral and earth.

For electrical stuff, any cable exposed to the user/planet is going to be 18AWG minimum.
That's why I posted the table I did above, it set 18 awg as a minimum.

mm2, awg, sq mils; all of these are in use.

250mcm (million circular mills) is standard in the "wires run to your house" sizes.

(A mil is a thousandth of an inch)

I have some nice 350mcm shielded cables I saved from the dumpster I'm going to use for a car stereo project, just 'cause.

That's a 50 cent piece.

That cable ran a 3.3V 120A power supply 30 feet, with less than .1V drop.
