Serious sweaty games e.g. PvP anything, any person camera with waepons in hand, KBM.
Single player games with mostly exploring/weapons not always drawn out, hack&slash games, racing games, controller.
GTA V is weird. I use both. Controller when I'm just cruising. KBM when I need to shoot from cars.
Don't invest on Xbox Elite controllers. Even MS acknowledged that the new one had hardware issues. And the reddit thread had tons of people who had multiple out of warranty (does it even have warranty?) defective units. Just get a regular one. If you want you can just plug in via USB and use it wired.
When you press a button on the controller, all the button prompts will show controller buttons. If you move the mouse, they'll show KB buttons again. The start button (on the controller) usually acts as Esc while the menu button as Tab key or map. You can always go to settings and check which buttons do which.
