Ok so I'm new to posting threads on the internet so please tell me if there are any better websites I could ask this question on.
So this is a problem I've had for a long time and it's driving me crazy. I've had this same issue with all the electronics I've bought. When I play games it feels like it's laggy even though the fps counter reports more than 100fps and I'm not sure if it's just me having ocd or if my computer actually has a problem because the game feels responsive as expected with high fps but when I move my head around it doesn't feel smooth.
So let me explain my history with this issue and I'm gonna mainly focus on Minecraft as that's the game I play the most. I first got my gaming laptop which I don't remember the exact specs of but it's GPU was a gtx 1050ti and it had an i7 (not sure which one), 8gb RAM and a 120hz monitor and that thing gave me 150-180fps while playing in Minecraft servers like hypixel and it felt laggy after a week. Then I returned that and got another gaming laptop with a gtx 1060, 16gb RAM , a 60hz display and an i7 8th gen and that one gave me 180-200fps in servers and it felt fine during the first week but then I started feeling that it wasn't smooth. So I returned that and decided to build a desktop, and so I did and that's the computer I currently have. It has a gtx 1660, an i7 9700, 16gb ddr4 2666mhz RAM and a 75hz display and it runs all my games at a great fps. Minecraft now runs at 300-600fps while I'm inside a game in servers like hypixel, all my other games run at above 100fps and for the first month I didn't have any issues at all, but after using it for a month, I started noticing that Minecraft was not running as smoothly even thought it was still at an average of 500fps. Then I checked Fortnite and it felt even worse, csgo didn't feel as bad and I could barely notice it in gta v.
Now here's my analysis, it could be related to refresh rate even though I have no idea how I ussually won't notice it the first month. I'm not sure about my 120hz laptop I didn't change it's refresh rate to 120 in settings like I did for my 75hz monitor as I didn't know I had to do that back then but I'm pretty sure laptops are automatically set to highest refresh rate by manufacturer. Second thing could be microstutters, the discription of microstutters kind of fits my situation but I'm not sure as I wouldn't call it a stutter since it just feels different. Third thing could be me having ocd as I ussually don't notice these issues within the first week of using my new computer but then my expectations somehow go higher and I notice them. Another thing that you might need to know in order to help me is that my new desktop feels alot better than the laptops however I still cannot call it smooth when I'm inside a hypixel skywars game and I'm jumping and looking around. Also, when I set my frame cap to less than 200fps in Minecraft it feels really laggy, it's still responsive but frames look laggy, but when I put it back on unlimited it looks alot better but as I said it still doesn't feel flawlessly smooth as expected with 500fps.
So please, tell me wether there could be something wrong(and how to fix it) or I'm really becoming crazy :/
