Hi,

Trying to update the firmware on my graphics card I used a version for a different subsystem, which has caused the Nvidia drivers to return error 47.

I was stupid enough to not save a backup of the original firmware, so now I can't restore it since all I find are for the ID 10DE 1C60 and subsystem 10DE 0000, but my subsystem is 1558 6A03.

Please, would there be anyone with that same card who could upload a backup of their vbios?

nvflash shows this information:

Adapter: GeForce GTX 1060 (10DE,1C60,1558,6A03) H:--:NRM S:00,B:01,D:00,F:00

Thanks in advance

Could you post a picture of the sticker on the back of the GPU? Also provide a GPUZ screenshot as well?

definitely no clevo gtx1060 vbios in the database.

in the unverified section yes but none with this subsystem id

This is all we have.

I even searched your device ID and subsystem ID and nothing comes up.

You may need to buy a card. I would contact clevo about it on social media and see if they may have the bios but your chances of getting the card running again have been reduced to almost nill.

Let this be a lesson in why not to flash a GPU bios for you.

Or if you do, best to back up current bios before proceeding

I wouldnt flash any mgpu because there is no telling if the chip is on motherboard shared with the main bios or if there are whitelists...

The GPU works if I use old drivers (372.90), but with newer drivers, I get error 47 or Windows crash.

I attach the GPU-Z info for my card:

Contact clevo and nvidia on this.

Here is a w10 driver for notebooks. Id update chipset driver before installing gpu driver...

W7-8.1

Other results for w10

W7 too

Live chat with support team, bottom right of page. See if they can help.

if that is the case he could just try updating the main bios and see if that works

It appears the GPU is onboard, not MXM. So a main bios flash might work.

I have restored the motherboard BIOS and this not updated the Nvidia vBIOS.

I contacted the store but they said they don't have any cards of that model, so they can't pass me the vBIOS.

I tried to contact Nvidia, they told me to contact the manufacturer.

I contacted Clevo and first they told me that I had to update the motherboard BIOS, I told I was restore it, then said we can´t help me (a fantastic help support)

I think the only option is to find someone with the same card (model and subsystem) and ask for a backup of their card's vBIOS

I was looking into error 47, and it states:

Code 47 “Windows cannot use this hardware device… (Code 47)”
Full Error Message
Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been prepared for safe removal, but it has not been removed from the computer. To fix this problem, unplug this device from your computer and then plug it in again. (Code 47)
Cause
This error code occurs only if you used the Safe Removal application to prepare the device for removal, or pressed a physical eject button.
Recommended Resolution
Unplug the device from the computer, and then plug it back in. Restart your computer if that doesn't resolve the error. From Start, click Shut Down, and then select Restart.

I was wondering what would happen if you try to uninstall the device in Device Manager, delete drivers and restart the laptop?

Sorry, the real error code is 43, not 47

Try to downgrade BIOS to the earliest one and then update to the latest one.

I did it, but not helped

Here is a list of BIOSes for you to try:

Use flash instructions from this thread.

We're talking about a laptop not a desktop "card" right ?

Here's the d/l page I use for all things Clevo

I tried to flash each one of the vBIOS in the list (except the second one which is for a different device ID) and with all of them I get the same result: If I install a version later than 378.92 I get the error 43

Yes, it's a laptop and I also reinstalled all the system BIOS versions to see if it updated the vBIOS as indicated by Clevo technical support, but I checked that the vBIOS version does not change with the system BIOS update.

Contact the vendor, or try to get someone with the same notebook to dump and send you the BIOS.

Like this guy here: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2429482

The seller said he currently doesn't have any motherboard like mine, and regarding contacting someone who has the same graphic, I already wrote to that person on the Ubuntu forum, but I still don't have an answer.

I think I'll have to wait and see if I get lucky and someone with the same board/graphic sends me a backup. And next time, make a backup before changing anything, which I usually do, but this time I didn't

I just passed by from google search, hope it helps below attachment , P650RP6-G user here.

Hi hotwebs, Thanks you so much for upload your vBIOS!!!

After a lot of tests with different drivers I remembered that the laptop had a BIOS option to change the graphics mode between MSHybrid (uses the Intel graphics card by default) or Discrete (only uses the Nvidia graphics card).

After switching to discreet mode, I was able to install the latest version of the drivers without it returning error 43.

Furthermore, I have noticed that the Device ID is different:
  • MSHybrid: 10DE 1C60 - 1558:6A03 (new drivers return error 43)
Info-20200519-GM-MSHybrid-Nvidia.gif

  • Discrete: 10DE 1C60-1558:6A04 (new drivers works fine)
Info-20200519-GM-Discrete.gif

I haven't used your backup yet as I seem to have the same vBIOS version installed, and the truth is that now that it seems to work in discreet mode I'm a bit afraid that it will stop working.

Do you have Discrete or MSHybrid mode enabled? In my case, if I switch back to MSHybrid mode, the card stops working (code 43 returned again), but as soon as I switch back to Discrete, it works again.
